WHO ARE WE?
WHAT DO WE DO?
HOW IS TRAINING
CONDUCTED?
ETSA Utilities Training Services is a Registered
Training Organisation (RTO), providing a
diverse selection of quality programs designed
to meet industry requirements for vocational
education and training.
ETSA Utilities Training Services is the training
provider to our apprentices and tradespeople in
the operational fields of Powerline, Substation
and Electronics. We also provide the same
training services to external individuals and
organisations within the industry both in South
Australia and interstate.
Adult learning practices are applied in both the
classroom and field exercises, while subject
matter experts facilitate the delivery of theory
and practical training components. Successful
completion is achieved through a variety of
assessment methods.
As one of the main contributors to the
development of competency standard units
for the electrical distribution and transmission
sectors, ETSA Utilities has been providing
training in these sectors for more than 50
years.
Our first formal traineeship began in 1964 and
our in-service training commenced in 1987.
Accredited courses are available for the
following qualifications:
• Certificate III in Electricity Supply Industry
(ESI) — Distribution
• Certificate III in Electrotechnology
Electrician
We also offer training specific to the client’s
needs — meeting competency standards as
a minimum while providing the framework
for procedures and equipment specific to the
work undertaken.
Our broad suite of programs range from Plant,
Tools and Equipment and Confined Space,
through to Live Low Voltage, High Voltage
Switching and Transmission Live Line Methods.
Confined Space Entry
Our training staff are highly competent and
qualified tradespersons, trainers and assessors.
We aim to ensure participants enjoy the

confidence and expertise to further enhance
their performance.

WHERE IS THE TRAINING
CONDUCTED?
WHY ENGAGE ETSA UTILITIES TRAINING SERVICES?
There is flexibility around training locations,
with consideration given to promoting the best
learning environment for participants.
As an RTO, our objective is to meet the diverse
trade technical training needs of the electricity
industry. Our accreditation also enables
us to draw on established procedures being
applied across various business functions,
such as Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S)
and standard operating procedures.
ETSA Utilities Training Services can host
training at either our Angle Park site — on the
verge of Adelaide’s CBD — or at the Davenport
Training Centre outside Port Augusta. Both
are equipped with fully functional electricity
network systems to enable participants
to apply their newly-acquired skills in a field
situation under safe training conditions.
Our flexibility, in terms of training locations and
style of delivery, enables the best arrangements
for meeting the needs of clients, and our
qualified trainers and assessors draw on
expansive experience while continually keeping
abreast of current practices.
ETSA Utilities Training Services maintains
a close association with ElectroComms and
Energy Utilities Industry Skills Council Ltd
(EE-Oz Training Standards), thereby keeping
up-to-date on industry trends.
