S1 |'It's Canon! Queerbaiting and Trans Representation in the Media| Youth
A discussion about the methods Queer people and non-heterosexual relationships are represented in
television shows, movies, books, and other forms of media. How are these depictions detrimental and
how are they helpful? What role does language and a character's personality play in queer stereotypes
and misbeliefs? Why isn't it canon? A workshop where we divulge into queer culture in the media.
S1 |Putting “Unity” in Community| Youth
Your identity is multi-faceted. These various aspects of your identity impact your experiences in the
world and shape who you are. Some of these identities give us privilege, others oppression. This
workshop will explore how GSAs can work towards becoming more inclusive of LGBTQ students who
experience multiple forms of oppression and how to put the “unity” in community.
5

minds to different pathways to pleasure! We'll cover the ins and outs of STI transmission, some risks
involved in having different kinds of sex, how to talk about STIs and safer sex, and how to use barriers
and make them sexy. The workshop will focus on folks who are often left out of safer sex education and
conversations, including, but not limited to, people who are queer, trans, and/or women.
