To provide an introductory knowledge and skills in business
administration, providing skills to enter into an office environment in a
junior capacity.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
> Office procedures such as mail handling; filing; customer services; health, safety and security; and use of office equipment.
> Understand and provide receptionist functions
> Use of office information systems including using electronic copying equipment and telecommunications systems.
ASSESSMENT
Students will be assessed in a ‘simulated office environment’ to show
competency in the following unit standards:
Students should be in full school uniform or tidy dress suitable to an
office environment. Pen and paper required.

Demonstrate and apply knowledge of office equipment and
administration processess.

This programme is eligible for Youth Guarantee
Designed for those interested in getting into a support role, this programme
is ideal for those new to the field. You will get a general taste for the
technical skills needed in office administration — from Microsoft Word,
Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint to more specific programmes like MYOB.
You’ll also have the opportunity to develop other key skills, including
customer service, communication and teamwork through group project
work. Familiarity of home keys and basic computer use is an advantage
before entry into the programme.

Certificate in Secretarial Computer
Applications (Level 3)
Learn about a wide range of computer applications with the Certificate
in Secretarial Computer Applications. Designed to give you the
computer skills and business know-how required in today’s office
environment, this programme is ideal if you want to learn about
current computing applications, update your existing skills or develop
work-ready computing skills. Focusing on support roles, you’ll gain a
sound understanding of spreadsheets, databases, word processing,
business document layouts, internet and email. You’ll also develop
employment preparation skills and learn about customer service so
that you enter into the workplace with a well-rounded set of skills.
