Area: Power Electronic/Electromechanical Systems and Control − Conducted simulation and experimental research on DSP based digital control technology for parallel operation of UPS units and distributed generation systems, grid-connection of inverters, and three-phase four-wire double-conversion UPS systems with PWM rectifiers to generate reliable and high quality AC power with low steady state error, fast transient response, and low total harmonic distortion. Three-year ongoing project supported by National Science Foundation. − Investigated control of fuel cell/battery energy conversion systems for distributed generation/electric vehicles. Organized OSU Team to participate in IEEE Future Energy Challenge (FEC’03) Student Competition. − Performed Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of torque ripples and faults of PM brushless DC and synchronous machines for electric power steering systems. Two-year project supported by Delphi Saginaw Steering. − Worked on team that conducted research on modeling and control of switched reluctance motors for breaking-by-wire systems.
