Asian Prosthetic and Orthotic Scientific Meeting 2014 in conjunction with The Second Meeting of the International Society for Restorative Neurology
Welcome Message from President of Asian
Prosthetic and Orthotic Scientific Meeting 2014
Dear distinguished colleagues, and friends:
As the Congress Organizer, it gives us great pleasure to welcome you to the Asian Prosthetic and Orthotic
Scientific Meeting 2014 (APOSM 2014) in conjunction with The Second Meeting of the International Society
for Restorative Neurology (ISRN). This great meeting is under the auspice of Asian Country Member of
International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics and organized by ISPO – Chinese Taipei, Taiwan Society
for Prosthetics and Orthotics, Taiwan Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and International
Society for Restorative Neurology.
In order to meet the demand of the aging society, we aimed at covering major aspects of aging related
diseases such as stroke, osteoarthritic knee, osteoporosis and diabetic foot, etc.. We are going to cover
basic biomechanics, clinical diagnosis and medical management as well as orthotic management. Lectures
and workshops provided by different disciplines to make a team approach possible.
Restoration of ambulation functions is important after stroke, head injury and spinal cord injury. In this
conference, we will explore the latest development of central pattern generator in spinal cord injury. Hot
issues such as rTMS, echo-guided Botulinum toxin type A injection and robotic gait training will be included.
In the exhibition, robotic assisted walking system will also be demonstrated.
As the principal cultural, economic and political center of Taiwan, Taipei metropolis is one of the most
fascinating cities in Asia, combining both old and new, made more attractive by its dynamic economic
growth. There is no doubt that the success of the Congress will be dependent on all of the participants who
come to present their work, to catch up with old friends and make new ones. According to Confucius, the
great sage of China, one of the happiest moment in life is to have friends visiting us from far-off places. Here,
I quote this famous saying as a sincere welcome to all of you. I hope that all the distinguished guests from
abroad will have the opportunities to enjoy the dynamic beauty of Taiwan and the fine Chinese cuisine, while
also experiencing the warm hospitality of the Taiwanese.
Once again, with open arms and warm regards, we welcome you all to Taipei!
Sincerely yours
Simon Fuk-Tan Tang, M.D.
