Tables of standard body measurements are included. Body measurements are considered to be accurate when the difference between repeat measurements is not more than 5 mm. 2 The learning outcomes in this unit standard are consistent with Technology in the New Zealand Curriculum (Wellington: Learning Media, 1995). Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Take body measurements. Range measurements appropriate for style, personal fit. Evidence requirements 1.1 Body measurements are identified to the requirements of the pattern style. 1.2 Body measurements are taken to the requirement of the pattern style. 1.3 Body measurements are checked to ensure accuracy. Evidence requirements 2.1 Requirements of end use are identified in terms of purpose of garment or textile item. 2.2 The pattern selected meets the requirements of intended end use. Outcome 3 Select a pattern size for body measurement. Evidence requirements 3.1 A comparison of personal and standard body measurements allows the pattern size to be selected. 3.2 The pattern size selected is a best match for measurements. Outcome 4 Adjust patterns for personal fit. Range remove excess length and width, add additional length and width. Evidence requirements 4.1 A comparison of personal and standard body measurements identifies the adjustment needed. 4.2 Adjustments to pattern pieces are made to meet the requirements of the personal measurements.
