If you want to have your learning formally assessed, you must supply certified copies of proof of
identity and proof of residency (where appropriate). Please contact OP Online to find out about

You will need to have Microsoft Office or Open Office on your computer to be able to do the online
computing courses in this programme. You may choose to purchase online facilitation and/or

This programme is designed to be flexible enough to fit around the daily demands of busy people,
like you! Teaching materials are designed to help you learn at your own pace and check your
progress along the way. Facilitators will be available on-hand to offer assistance with your learning
for a fee. Please see the academic facilitation section on our WikiEducator pages for more
information.
 Assessment
No big exams! No long tests or assignments! Your skills are assessed using methods such as
recording evidence, a little theory and some practical. For example, some courses use an online
quiz or portfolio activities.
Should you wish to be formally assessed once you have completed all the learning units for each
course, please contact OP Online to find out about payment and enrolling for assessment. Once
payment is confirmed, instructions will be provided for you to access the assessments at OP
Moodle.

By completing this course you will be able to demonstrate knowledge of hardware and software
components of a personal computer system, operate a printer, complete basic operation and
maintenance procedures, and demonstrate knowledge of ergonomic principles for safe computer
use.
File management and protection
By completing this course you will be able to demonstrate file management, identify and describe
common threats to data, demonstrate knowledge of data protection measures and ethical issues
in relation to the management of data held on computer systems, for a personal computer system.
Text processing skills
By completing this course you will be able to use text processing skills to produce
communications in a business or organisational context. This includes, but is not limited to,
essays, assignments, memoranda, correspondence, newsletters, reports, notices, advertisements,
forms and email.
Working with spreadsheets
By completing this course you will be able to plan, create and use a spreadsheet to solve a
problem using a supplied brief.
Researching and presenting data
By completing this course you will be able to plan and design a presentation, and create and
present the presentation to an audience using a desktop presentation computer application.
Working with databases
By completing this course you will be able to plan, create and use a database to solve a problem
using a supplied brief.
Word processing
By completing this course you will be able to use a word processor to produce documents for a
business or organisation.
Digital communication technologies
By completing this course you will be able to work effectively with a range of digital
communication technologies.
Create and manage files
By completing this course you will be able to create word-processing documents for specific
purposes and manage document files effectively.
Text and images
By completing this course you will be able to create and enhance word-processing documents,
