Purpose of the Course
This programme introduces a practical approach to managing logistics operations in the
Warehouse or Distribution centre.
This course is for people who function at the first level of supervision. Well experienced
employees being groomed for promotion or for special tasks will also benefit.
Persons wishing to improve their chances of finding employment and who have some related experience will also benefit.
SETA accredited Qualification
Because the course is unit standard based, you, the client can elect to have Competency
assessments done. This will allow specific work related content and practical work to be
included in the portfolio of evidence.
The course is an ideal vehicle for emphasizing, or introducing changes and improvements
to existing Policies and Procedures, new skills, and methods of work.
Competency Certificates underwritten by the Transport SETA (TETA) can be awarded.
This option is not available on Public Courses.

Progression
This programme one of a range of SETA Accredited Learning Programmes underwritten by the
Centre for Logistics Excellence. Together they form a useful though not complete progression.
The programs are:

Supply Chain Management (Level 5, 20 credits)

Manage Logistics Operations ( Level 4, 12 credits)

Receive stock Warehouse ( Level 3, 15 credits)

Pick stock (Level 2, 12 credits

Despatch stock (Level 3, 12 credits)

Maintain the Stock Room (Level 3, 10 credits)
Course Content
Topics Include:

Understand logistics and the supply chain

Manage customer satisfaction

Manage and control logistics activities

Manage the transport function

• Manage the warehouse function

Manage inventory and the purchasing function

Manage the order processing function
Course Duration
The learning programme can be completed in house within 2 full days
(12hours), or 4 x 3 hour sessions
Delivery Method
In-House Classroom facilitator-led sessions take the form of single 3-hour sessions or 2 full days.
Self-study is optional but not recommended. Public Workshops / Facilitator-led Classes
(recommended) are available and schedules are published annually.
The Portfolio based competency assessment option will add up to six hours of contact time per
delegate to the process depending on company requirements. This option is not available to
Private candidates
Eligibility
Delegates must satisfy the listed minimum requirement for the course to be cost-effective:

Basic literacy and Numeracy at ABET Level 4
Potential candidates should preferably have at least a minimum of 2-4 years related working
experience either in a warehouse or stores environment or at least in industry.
