Country United States Maintenance Engineering Utility, Maintenance Technician / Apprentice - 1st Shift Division Corporate Functions YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reference Code 0000164394 The primary responsibilities of this role, Maintenance Engineering Utility, Maintenance Technician / Apprentice - 1st Shift, are to: •Comply with all workplace standards and safety procedures, including Lockout Tagout, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements (OSHA), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Company Guidelines. •Initiate and establish equipment operating parameters to maximize production, while meeting all product specifications. •Coordinate the utilization of outside contractors and vendors as needed. •Perform preventive maintenance tasks as trained. •Troubleshoot electromechanical systems to maintain and improve equipment performance. •Take ownership of training and learning to develop high performance competencies such as technical skills, communication skills, and skills to build a team-oriented culture (i.e. training team members, motivating and supporting team members, sharing knowledge to continuously improve the process, etc.). •Take steps to pursue licensure in one or more MEU focus areas (i.e. refrigeration, asbestos removal, electrical). •Learn basics of project management. •Train to demonstrate the ability to plan, schedule and prioritize daily and weekly work activities as initiated by supervision. •Maintain documentation and logs according to SOP's, cGMP's and any other regulatory requirements. •Perform a variety of utility maintenance tasks including all preventive maintenance for facility HVAC equipment, including hydronic pumps, chillers (to include centrifugal, helical screw and reciprocating types) and associated air handling equipment. •Train to operate, troubleshoot, and repair microprocessor based chillers, D.D.C. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: Required Qualifications: •High School Diploma or GED. •Completed Advanced Manufacturing Integrated Systems Technology 1 and 2 at Reading Area Community College (RACC), or equivalent (HACC, vo-tech, etc.), or at least 2 years of specific experience working with PLCs, mechanical, electrical, electronics and/or industrial maintenance. •Proven Mechanical or Electrical aptitude. •Must have excellent organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and utilize downtime. •Demonstrated ability to successfully changeover/set up multiple pieces of site equipment and strong troubleshooting skills. •Good written and verbal communication skills in English. •Good PC Skills including use of e-mail. Previous experience using electronic databases and on-line tools required (i.e., but not limited to, Outlook & Sharepoint databases, Employee Self-Services on-line tools, etc.) •Demonstrated ability to work safely in a production environment. •Demonstrated ability to read/interpret/follow instructions in regard to workplace documentation, such as SOP’s, Operator Manuals, Work Instructions, etc. •Must be able to demonstrate a good mathematical aptitude in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, & metric system. •Must be willing to work overtime as required, based on business demands. •MT is expected to continue development into a Senior Technician role in a reasonable time frame according to a Development Plan. Upon completion of the Development Plan, the MT will be expected to bid on open ST positions regardless of shift. Preferred Qualifications: •Associates degree from a Technical Trade School or College. •Successful completion of a Bayer Technical Internship. •Experience in a government regulated, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or standard operating procedures (SOP) environment.
