Background Decision Technology is a research consultancy which provides bespoke services to commercial clients based on the statistical modelling of customer data, field surveys or online experiments. Position We are seeking an early career or aspiring data scientist to join our London based team. This Associate or Senior Associate role will involve: 1. Work with customer data, field surveys or online experiments: Consult with internal and client stakeholders to understand their needs Review existing academic research and distil the relevant findings Perform experiments, implement field research or handle existing data Design models, fit them to data and report the practical implications Author presentations and other write-ups of these findings Present results to internal and external stakeholders 2. Help to build our Data Practice: Review literature and industry practices to identify new methods Research these methods, technologies and analytic tools Pilot these new approaches on existing data and report findings Develop new data products and visualisation services Convert this research, and project work, into marketing materials Coordinate resources and knowledge sharing across Dectech As the Data Practice grows, the demand of (2) will outgrow that of (1). Candidates should be final year students, recent graduates or early career professionals with: Top rated undergraduate degree in a STEM subject. A postgraduate degree (MSc, PhD) would be advantageous Good understanding of recent developments and current research in data science Experience applying techniques, including (but not limited to) non-linear regression, dimension reduction, time-series analysis, optimization, ensemble learning, or neural networks, to large, real world datasets Formal training in or demonstrable experience of programming in C++, Java or Python and a willingness to learn new tools (e.g. Apache Spark and Hadoop, Linux, and R) Working knowledge of databases and SQL.
