Diabetes Prevalence Model
The diabetes prevalence model provides estimates of total (diagnosed and undiagnosed)
diabetes prevalence for people aged 16 years and older in England. The model was developed
using data from the latest 3 years of Health Surveys for England (HSE), 2011, 2012 and 2013.
The estimates take into account the age, sex, and ethnic group distribution, as well as
deprivation of the area. Estimates are provided for both the resident and registered
population. Diabetes prevalence estimates have been produced by local authority, CCG and for
England.
Soon to be published:
CVD Risk Factors Profiles
These will be available for each local authority. These profiles bring together a wide range of
data on the risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD) for each local authority in England.
They are for commissioners and health professionals to use when assessing the impact of CVD
on their local population, opportunities for improvement and making decisions about services
and emerging issues.

Ofsted regime for CCGs
NHS England has set out the framework of the new assessment regime for CCGs in 2016-17.
CCGs will be assessed within six clinical priorities: cancer, dementia, diabetes, mental health,
learning disabilities, maternity care and will receive a rating of outstanding, good, requires
improvement or inadequate for each. Assessment will be overseen by independent panels
chaired by: Mind – mental health, Alzheimer’s Society – dementia, Cancer Research UK –
cancer, Diabetes UK – diabetes, the National Maternity review chair – maternity, and the NHS
Confederation chief executive and NHS England learning disability advisor – learning
disabilities. The framework will also include 29 performance indicators across four domains:
better health, better care, sustainability and leadership. Initial assessment of performance will
be available online from June 2016, with full assessments, including information from STPs, by
June 2017. Once in place, a risk-based inspection regime will be implemented, with high
performing CCGs inspected every five years. Access framework here
Shaping Ageing Cities
We are living in the urban and ageing era. As cities across the globe continue to grow, more
people are growing old in housing, streets, communities that often are failing to respond
appropriately to ageing populations with specific policies. This provides a unique opportunity to
influence and design urban environments and social structures in ways that respect, protect and
fulfil our rights, including in our older age.
