These are needed from day 1 and are not provided by the College. You will NOT be allowed into the Design workshops without safety shoes. RECOMMENDED These items are very useful for a designer, however it is not essential you arrive at College with them if you do not already have them. The Course tutors will be able to advise on anything you may need to buy when you need it These items will not be included in the Kit you will receive at the start of term. Soldering iron PTO Computers Increasingly the use of computers to support your design and academic studies, becomes more important. Laptop computers or home computer support may prove extremely beneficial. The College does provide computers for teaching and access throughout the day, but you may find that working at home will need to be computer based at times. It may be advisable to purchase a colour printer to compliment your laptop or home computer Data Storage A USB data storage pen can be an extremely useful support to your studies Photography Recording your work in photographs will form a key part of your studies, either using digital Cameras or standard SLR Colour Printing All printing produced during classes will be free of charge. Following the first 50 colour printouts (which will be free of charge), colour printing during project work, and for other personal uses, will be charged at 10p per sheet and printed from the design computer room. Black and white printing is available from the general college computer rooms at a lower cost. Reading lists The reccomended reading lists for all modules contain books and journals available in the College library. It is not necessary for you to purchase all books, but some may become a vital support to your studies and future.
