Minimum bench space for each SPE-DEX 4790 Station:
6.5” W x 13.5” D x 19.75” H (16.5 x 34.3 x 50.2 cm)
Minimum bench space for the Envision Controller:
4.3” W x 12.5” D x 9.25” H (10.9 x 31.8 x 23.5 cm)
Each Controller can operate up to eight extractors. At least one inch between each extractor
is recommended. Approximately 24 inches of bench space is needed for the solvent bottles
and waste recovery bottles. A counter depth of 30 inches is preferable but at least 24 inches
is required.
Support
The table on which the SPE-DEX 4790 System sits must accommodate the combined weight
of the Extractor Stations and Envision® Controller:

Gas
A clean, dry regulated source of nitrogen is required. The source can be either a tank and
regulator, or house nitrogen. The pressure must be a minimum of 60 PSI and a maximum of
80 PSI. ⅛-inch male NPT fittings are supplied, which will adapt to most nitrogen regulators.
The connection also can be made using a customer-supplied ⅛-inch Swage fitting.
House air is not recommended for use.
The vacuum pump draws solvent vapors from the solvent recovery bottle, so the exhaust
from the vacuum pump must be adequately vented. Running the exhaust line from the
pump to a fume hood is sufficient. If desired, the extractor units, solvent bottles, and waste
containers can be placed in a hood.
A vent or exhaust hose (P/N 02-0882) is required if the system will be operated on a bench.
It is not required if system will be placed in a fume hood.
The SPE-DEX 4790 system requires a vacuum pump (P/N 50-2480-01), capable of pulling a
minimum vacuum of 10 inches of Hg at 1 SCFM. The vacuum source must remain constant
to ensure adequate performance. House vacuum is not recommended for use.

Customer-provided SPE disks are required. Atlantic® and Pacific™ disks from Horizon
Technology are strongly recommended.
Solvent
Capability
Solvents are required to condition disks and elute the captured semi/nonvolatile analytes.
Dichloromethane, hexane, acetone, methanol and ethyl acetate are some examples.
