TAILINGS MANAGEMENT SOLUTION
Application: Tailings management for a major oil sands producer.
Customer Challenge: Loss of valuable water storage capacity
at a problematic sump due to settled solids in the tailings pond.
Wajax Solution:
▪ Combined the capabilities of Wajax Industrial Components,
Wajax Power Systems and Wajax Equipment to provide
a turnkey solution
▪ Provided maneuverability and dredging power by attaching
a Damen DOP submersible dredge pump to a Hitachi excavator
▪ Coupled a Polaris electrical submersible pump with a generator
set from MTU to ensure the pond remained free of solid build up
▪ Supported the operation with a range of AllightPrimax
dewatering pumps and light stands to manage water levels
and avoid any potential fluid management incidents.
TURNKEY PROCESS AID SYSTEM
Application: Sodium citrate preparation for oil sands.
Customer Challenge: Customer required a process aid system
that would allow for the preparation, storage and metering of sodium
citrate solution into the rotary breaker chute – a 24/7 operation.
Wajax Solution:
▪ Designed a turnkey solution including bulk bag unloading, solution
preparation, mixing and storage tanks, transfer and metering skids,
as well as monitoring controls.

ENGINEERED PIPE HANDLING SYSTEM
Application: Pipe handling for the oil & gas industry.
Customer Challenge:
▪ Existing pipe racks and pipe handling systems require multiple
staff to operate and there’s an increased risk of injury
▪ Some rigs do not have pipe handling systems and
do not have the available power to install a fixed unit.
Wajax Solution:
▪ Engineered a portable pipe handling system designed
to learn pick up and drop off points
▪ Portable system allows use at different rigs and locations
▪ Fully automated operation with arm mounted flood lights, hydraulic
cooler, multi-axis movement, vacuum head assembly and pump assembly
▪ Works in all weather conditions and capable of handling up to 1500lbs.
RE-DESIGNED BELT CONVEYOR IDLERS
Application: Belt conveyor idlers for major oil sands producer.
Customer Challenge: Downtime and production loss on belt
conveyor system caused by idler support frame breakdown.
Wajax Solution:
▪ Performed static and dynamic Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
to identify weaknesses in idler frame sections
▪ Provided a complete report including root cause, solutions,
retrofit on existing conveyor system and life cycle simulation
▪ Re-designed the frame and rolls as per Wajax recommendations
▪ Increased idler capacity to support excessive weight and shocks.
