A Pre conference workshop will be conducted on the 7th of July 2016 on in-vitro & in-vivo
screening methods for assessing anticancer activity in association with Faculty of Allied
Health Sciences, Chettinad Academy of Research and Education (CARE).

Pre-Conference Workshop - 7th July 2016
A Pre-conference workshop will be conducted by the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences,
Chettinad Academy of Research and Education (CARE) who have specialized in cancer
research. Participants will be trained in Pre-clinical, both in-vitro and in-vivo methods of
screening for the anticancer activity of newer agents.
Objective of the workshop: To impart practical skills to the participants with the in-vitro
techniques and the development of animal models for selected types of cancers which
will be of immense use in cancer research.

The conference will focus on the recent advances in cancer research and pharmacotherapy
of the most common as well as emerging cancers such as Breast, Ovarian, Uterine, Lung,
Colon, Prostate, Head and Neck, Oral and Pancreatic Cancers. Eminent national and
international speakers will address special topics in cancer research such as diagnostic and
prognostic markers, alternative models for cancer, nanotherapy, immunotherapy and
newer targets for cancer therapy. A separate session with industrial representatives will be
organized in which the participants will be able to identify opportunities for career
advancement.
The participants will be trained in Cell Culture techniques, MTT Assay, LDH assay,
Colony Formation Assay, Migration Assay and how to develop animal models of cancer.
The participants will also be exposed to small animal imaging techniques.
Maximum number of participants for the workshop is only 50. Selection will be on a first
come first served basis. The registration fee for the workshop is phenomenally reduced
to Rs.2000/- and it includes course material, breakfast, working lunch, tea and snacks.
