Vallabhbhai Regional College of Engineering &
Technology in 1961 and was upgraded as a National

Institute of Technology on 4 October, 2002. Sardar
Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) is
one of the pioneering engineering institutions of the
country which has contributed many outstanding
engineers in India and abroad. It is conducting seven UG
programs, eighteen PG programs, and a Ph.D. program
in all disciplines of engineering and applied sciences.
Special attention is also given to interdisciplinary
researches. The institute has an excellent placement
record with a number of top ranking companies visiting the
campus every year.
CIVIL ENGINEERING & APPLIED MECHANICS DEPARTMENT
In Association with
The Department of Civil Engineering is one of the
pioneering departments of the Institute. The department
has highly qualified faculty members engaged in
teaching, research and development with the aim of
achieving excellence in their fields. Department also offers
Post Graduate and Doctoral Programs in the following
areas:
1. Water Recourses Engineering
2. Environmental Engineering
3. Transportation Engineering and Planning
4. Urban Planning

The department of Applied Mechanics is the backbone of
Civil Engineering Programme. It is an independently
functioning department, dedicated to the specialized areas
of Structural Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering.
The department takes pride in pioneering post graduate
course in the fields of Geotechnical Engineering and
Structural Engineering, since 1973 and 1974 respectively.

This foundation is established by Alumni Mr. Bhadresh Shah
and Swapan Shah.It is dedicated to serve the society. The
main activities of foundation are supporting educational
programmes and health care facilities. It helps poor students
and work devotedly for protecting environment. This institute is
active in Surat since last 20 years.
SVNIT AA SURAT CHAPTER
The SVNIT AA- Surat Chapter is the first registered local
chapter of SVNIT Alumni Association. One of the main
objective of local chapter is to promote and encourage sharing
of technical information and knowledge for betterment of
students and professional fraternity. After its registration in
2015, the membership strength grew from 25 to almost

are also acceptable.
CALL FOR PAPERS
The papers related to the themes mentioned above and
related with water resources, urban, transportation, soil and
environmental engineering are invited from the faculties of
engineering colleges, polytechnics, working engineers,
scientists, research scholars, PG students and NGOs
working in related areas.
GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION OF PAPER
The full text of paper is to be limited to a maximum of 8
A4 size papers including tables and figures. The
guidelines for authors are enclosed separately. Authors
are expected to submit the full length paper in soft copy
and scanned copy of the copy right transfer from by Email to: nrace2016@ced.svnit.ac.in .

payable at Surat. The fees will cover proceedings, one set of
delegate kit, working lunch and tea during the conference.
Travelling, Accommodation, lodging, boarding and other
expenses will have to be borne by the participants. However,
the guidance will be provided for accommodation.
