Dowser Control Notes
Using Console Dimmer Curve Profiles to
obtain smoothest fade performance.
A “square” dimmer profile as found on the ETC Express and Expression series, and
Strand 500 series* can be used to enhance the smoothness of the dowser fade in the
1-4 second range.

When using a mix of tungsten and MSR sources using split fade times for cues will
best manage the different response times of these light sources (as per moving light
practice). Programme the fade to start the tungsten sources first and then add the
MSRs.
For example for a 5 second fade:

Longer fades (over 10 seconds) with a final lower output level (up to approx. 25%)
may operate best with the standard dimmer profile.
Experiment with different curves and fade times to produce the best result for your
show.
