ULTRA HE LED T8… Why NOT Internal Drivers?
Electric shock hazard:
• After fluorescent ballast wiring is cut and ballast is removed, AC mains
are directly wired to lamp holders
• 120-277V are now wired directly to sockets, leading to potential shock
hazard
• Leading Manufacturer of G13 lamp holder not supporting this
operation. Will not warrant any sockets.
Legislation Trends:
• Canadian Standards Association (CSA) is working on a new
standard for these retrofit kits
• Industry is looking for a harmonization with this new CSA
standard and UL1598C
• Update available mid-February
BOTTOM LINE…If traditional fluorescent lamps are installed back into the re-wired
sockets (direct line voltage sockets) non-passive failures will occur.
ULTRA HE LED T8… Why External Drivers?
More efficient design:

• No hot spot created by integrated driver
Safer Operation:
