Guidelines
Congratulations again on becoming one of the participating schools taking part in our
Guinness World Record (GWR) attempt for the world’s largest reading lesson on Friday 24th
June .
Please make sure ALL of the following guidelines are followed on the day:
a. The instructor(s) and the pupils taught must remain the same throughout all
lessons. If one drops out, they will not be counted.
b. The organisers can choose either to have one solo instructor, a team of instructors or
video leading different groups at each location. These instructors cannot be witnesses but
are counted in the final total. The instructors must be suitably qualified.
c. All participants should be taught the same topics simultaneously, thus all participants
should be able to either see their instructors or follow their movements on a video screen.
e. The attempt must last for a minimum of 30 minutes. A loud start and finish signal
recognised by all participants must be used. Two experienced timekeepers (e.g. stewards)
must time the attempt with stopwatches accurate to 0.01 seconds.
h. There will need to be a minimum number of 50 participants for each venue in order
for that venue’s total to be included in the overall record total.

Forms
There are a minimum of THREE forms that need to be completed on the day:
GWR
require every mass participation record attempt to have TWO
independent witnesses present who are neither affiliated with nor related to the
individual or group attempting the record i.e journalists from a local newspaper
GWR
also require ONE steward per 50 participants to keep a head count on how
many people took part (These can be conducted by teachers or parents). If you
have 100 participants you will require x2 stewards to fill in the attached form.
i.e 100 = 2 stewards, 1000 = 20 stewards, 20 forms and so on.

Evidence
There are THREE stages of gathering evidence for us to successfully gain the record. As it
stands we have enough participants to break the record, however Guinness World Record
require evidence to prove it.
Below are two links that need to printed, completed and returned to us after the lesson
along with FIVE photos taken on the day (and a video if possible). These will all be
provided to the Guinness World Records as evidence for our record attempt.
Three types:
FIVE
photos (and a 60 second video clip if possible from a mobile device)
