Achievement with Merit: Correctly identify: • At least 18 out of 29 pitches, AND • 7 bars with correct rhythm. The music follows an A A B A pattern. The first section (A) is repeated and followed by a contrasting section (B) before returning to the opening idea (A) again. Or: Binary Form. The first section ends away from the tonic key. The second section is derived from similar melodic material to the first. It is quite common for Baroque pieces in binary form to repeat the opening idea at the end of the music.
