D453 Horizontal Wall Sconce Installation Instructions ! IMPORTANT ! WHEN USING ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT, BASIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS SHOULD ALWAYS BE FOLLOWED, INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING: READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS 1. Service of the equipment must be performed by qualified service personnel. 2. Installation and maintenance must be performed by a person familiar with the construction and operation of this product and any hazards involved. All applicable codes and ordinances must be followed. 3. Read this document before installing, servicing, or maintaining this equipment or installing a lamp. These instructions do not cover all installation, service, and maintenance situations. If your situation is not covered, or if you do not understand these instructions or additional information is required, contact Deco Lighting or your local Deco LIghting Distributor. 4. Read and follow all warnings and instructions provided by the lamp manufacturer. To reduce the risk of electrocution: 1. Make sure the equipment is properly grounded. 2. Always de-energize the circuit and/or equipment before connecting to, disconnecting from, or servicing the equipment. To reduce the risk of fire: 1. Keep material away that can burn from hot lamp. 2. Make sure lamps are correctly installed. 3. Use supply conductors with a minimum installation temperature rating as specified on equipment. To reduce the risk of personal injury from cuts, abrasions, or falling parts: 1. Wear gloves to prevent cuts or abrasions from sharp edges when removing from carton, handling and maintaining this equipment. 2. Do not use abrasive materials, glass cleaners or other solvents on reflector or lens. These substances may damage equipment and cause parts to eventually break and fall. 3. Do not install a damaged fixture. Instructions WARNING: To prevent electrical shock, turn off electricity at fuse box before proceeding. Installation Mounting Instruction (without J-Box) 1.Remove the mounting plate from back of fixture housing, ensuring that the flange nuts and gasket are still in place. 2.Using the mounting plate as a template, mark and drill holes in the mounting surface for anchor bolts (by others). 3.Set anchor bolts and fasten mounting plate securely, noting orientation arrow on plate. Set anchor bolts so that they do not protrude past the inner gasket more than 3/8” or they might interfere with fixture housing. Instructions (cont.) 4.Remove jumper wire from rear of fixture by separating the male and female plugs. On mounting surface, pull branch circuit conductors out of the junction box and through the large hole in the mounting plate. Connect jumper wires to branch circuit and allow it to hang freely for next steps. (See figure 1). For fixtures with ELDW option, consult the additional instructions and wire diagrams provided in the carton. For fixtures with ELDWR or ELDWRPS, consult the instructions and wire diagrams provided with the remote battery pack. Do not make any connections with energized supply leads. 5. Open lens frame by loosening the four hex cap screws on the corners. Optional: you may remove the lens frame and reflector before mounting, Fig 1 but it is not necessary (reference step 8). On mounting plate, loosen flange nuts. 6.Lift fixture housing to mounting plate and push jumper wire into the housing. 7.Position fixture so that the flange nuts fit into the keyhole slots on rear of fixture housing. The fixture will safely hang in this position until the flange nuts are tightened as detailed in step 9. Fig 2 8.Bend the reflector retaining spring (see figure 2) at the front of the fixture housing and allow the reflector to rotate on the internal hinges. Both the lens frame and reflector can be removed from the fixture housing by operating their spring retainers near their hinge points. Removal of these components is optional. 9.Access to the flange nuts is now provided. Tighten to 100 in-lbs. (See figure 3). 10.Reconnect branch circuit to internal wiring by connecting plug from step 4. 11.Install lamp (see below) and close lens frame by retightening the four hex cap screws on the corners. Internal Degree Aiming: The reflector retaining spring is the stainless steel flat spring that has 11 notches representing the aiming positions of 0 - 10 degrees from horizontal, in 1 degree increments (see Figure 2). Fig 3 To aim the reflector: 1.Grasp reflector anywhere along its perimeter. 2.Disengage the reflector tab by bending back on the reflector retaining spring. 3.Rotate the reflector and engage the reflector tab in another slot on the reflector retaining spring. Tapped Ballast The tapped ballast will be wired for 277 volt at the factory. To wire a fixture that contains a tapped ballast, first determine correct line voltage. Then select the proper fixture ballast voltage lead, remove crimped cap and connect to supply voltage lead. The fixture lead marked COM should then be connected to the neutral supply lead on all multi-voltage fixtures; be sure to cap off all unused fixture leads individually. Lamp Installation Prior to installing the lamp in the fixture, check to make sure that all power is disconnected. Ensure that the lamp source and wattage corresponds with the fixture label. To properly seat the lamp into the fixture, screw the lamp securely into the socket. Back the lamp out one to two turns, and then screw the lamp back into the socket, making sure that it is secure. Compact Fluorescent: Verify correct wattage and source, push lamp into socket until the socket retention clips snap secure (you will hear a click). TROUBLESHOOTING If • • • • • this The The The The The fixture fails to operate properly, check to make sure: correct lamp is properly installed fixture is wired correctly lamp is not faulty fixture is grounded correctly line voltage at the fixture is correct. Instructions (cont.) Quick Mount Bracket Instructions 1.Level the bracket to the intended altitude, install the bracket on the wall.(Figure 4) 2.Lift the fixture up and tilt slightly to ward the wall mounted bracket as shown in figure 5, hook the fixture base to the mounting bracket. 3.Screw tight the mounting bracket to the fixture from the inside.(Figure 6) 4.Close the frame and screw tightly.
