sorts of foods from rice, vegetables, fish, meat, breads, pies and even cakes in all types of
weather. In this manual we will provide you some helpful hints on how you can easily cook your
meals using just the sun's energy and should the day's weather not be ideal you can still be
successful in cooking your meals using the SunFocus solar electric oven electric oven option.
All you need is a standard 120v electric outlet to plug the SunFocus solar electric oven into
and the SunFocus will do the rest.
HOW TO USE SUNFOCUS DURING BROAD DAYLIGHT
Place the SunFocus solar electric oven in an area where there will be total unobstructed
sunshine. Start by pointing the front of the SunFocus in the direct of the sun. (East in the
morning, south at noon, west in the afternoon). Open up the SunFocus and adjust the back
mirror reflector ensuring that all the reflected sunlight’s reflection angles squarely into the
blackened cooking chamber. You do not want the reflector’s reflection being rebounded outside
of this oven cooking chamber area, as this will decrease the ovens efficiency. For best results
preheat the SunFocus solar electric cooking oven for 20 to 25 minutes before placing your
food inside the cooking chamber. Always keep the double pane glass lid closed while
preheating. The final cooking times will depend upon intensity of sunlight, surrounding air
temperature, type, quantity and moister content of food being cooked. You will not need to
constantly baby-sit the SunFocus solar electric oven, if there is enough sunlight to cast a
shadow the SunFocus will slowly cook your food but you will occasionally have to reposition
the SunFocus to keep up with the sun's movement across the sky. And if, the sky clouds over
while you are cooking, do not panic, just plug in the SunFocus's to any standard 120v outlet
and keep cooking your meal until done.
PRECAUTION: NEVER operate the SunFocus solar electric cooking oven in the rain.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
STEP 1: It is recommended for first time use to preheat the oven for 30 minutes.
Occasionally opening the ovens glass-cooking chamber to vent as the heating pad and
as the interior black coating comes up to full temperature and cure.
STEP 2: Unplug the oven and then open the glass to allow the oven to cool. Once the
oven has cooled to ambient temperature clean the interior surfaces with a mild solution
of soap and water. Then dry with a paper towel. Your SunFocus solar electric oven is
now ready to be use.

Should you decide to use only the SunFocus as just a solar oven we recommend you
preheat the oven by exposing it to sun for 20 to 25 minutes for preheating purposes
before use.

Should you decide to use only the SunFocus as just an electrical oven simple plug the
power cord into the side to the oven case socket, then plug the other end of the power
cord into any standard 120v outlet receptacle. Switch the ovens on switch to the ON
position. Preheat for 25 minutes before use for best results.

For best results use as little water as necessary when cooking.

Keep cooking pans or dishes covered while cooking.

Safety Precaution Statement: Opening the DGL (Double Glass Lid) continually once the
food is placed inside for cooking is not recommended. However, should you need to lift the
DGL lid for any reason, think safety first, wear a potholder over the opening hand and
carefully open up the DGL to slowly allow any trapped steam to escape in a slow & safe
manner Do not lean over the front of DGL lid while steam is escaping. Should you view
droplets forming on the inside of the DGL (Double Glass Lid) this is an indication of trapped
steam and that your food is cooking.

When you have determined that the meal is ready just remove your pans or dishes
following the above safety precautions. Always use a potholder when removing hot pans
or dishes.

Solar electric cooking times will vary… be patient. (summer/faster - winter/longer).

Do not forget to prepare the cooking chamber for its next use by cleaning the chamber with
a damp sponge or cloth after the cooking chamber has completely cooled.

Cooking with SunFocus solar electric oven is as convenient and simple as cooking in your
own household conventional oven.
HOW TO USE HYBRID SOLAR ELECTRIC COOKER

During partly sunny conditions, simply connect the electrical power cord into any 120v
power supply, power generator or any DC off grid system with 500 watt, 120v. inverter
capability.

The switch indicator light should laminate when power is ON. The cooker has a preset 300
degree F. built in thermostat to control the temperature automatically.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
1 It is always safer to switch OFF the power supply, when taking out or placing food inside
the oven.
2 Power cord connection should be inserted properly at both ends.
3 If you are short of time always, preheat the cooker using the electric back up while
making necessary preparations for your meal.
4 After removing the food from the oven, the DGL should be kept open. Close it after the
oven cools down. Remember: Cooking chamber should be cleaned for next use.
5 Any water at the bottom of the cooking tray should be wiped up with a dry cloth.
6 Never use in rain.
7 Both sides (top & bottom) of DGL should be kept clean, it is important to note that while
cooking check to make sure the cooking pans do not touch the DGL or else DGL might
break.
8 The cooker should be stored up right and kept indoors or stored under dry storage
conditions when not in use.
COOKING TIME
This will vary with the amount of sunlight, but you will soon find out how much time is required,
as you would with any solar electric product.
The food cooks with a slow, steady heat and does not burn. The recipes described later gives
an idea of the time it takes to cook with your new solar electric cooker. Pre soaking rice and
pulses in water for about half an hour reduces the cooking time.

Easy to cook food (one hour in general): - Egg, Rice, Fruit, vegetables (above ground),
Fish and chicken.

Medium cooking time: - Potatoes, Vegetables (roots) some beans, Lentils, most meats,
bread or cakes.

Hardest to cook: - Pies and large sized roasts.
SOME HINTS

You are at the liberty to use your own glassware or other metal cooking pots, but
there may be variation in the cooking time.

Do not fill pots or dishes to the brim. Food level should be at least a quarter inch below
the top.

Scrubbing with coarse material will damage the black surface required to absorbing solar
electric heat. Keep the reflector and oven glasses clean and free from dust. A clean
surface improves performance.

Grease spots must be wiped from reflector by using soap and water.

Use as little water as possible when cooking green vegetables for better taste.

Keep at least three pots with lid on while cooking food.

Do not open double glass lid once the food is placed inside.

Use safety precautions when removing for from oven. Take care while pening DPG or
removing hot pots from the oven.

Keep containers closed while cooking, however in case of bread, cake etc or for shallow
frying supplied pots should be kept open.

PRECAUTION: When cooking with sun or when using the electrical system the
ovens lid should always be kept open at least 4 to 6 inches.
