Universal Side Camera Kit – Installation Guide (can also be mounted front/back) Thank you for your purchase! These instructions are intended for the do-it-yourselfer who decides to install the camera without professional assistance. Keep in mind you will be installing a device that uses electrical power from your computer controlled vehicle. If you are not confident in your ability to attach this device without frying your electrical system, new camera, or yourself please seek PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION! BEFORE YOU BEGIN General Info: Note that this kit is marketed as a side camera kit that is typically mounted under the side mirrors. However, it can be mounted anywhere on the vehicle as long as the camera is mounted vertically (that is with the camera pushed upward through the drilled hole, cable on top camera on the bottom). Cable Access: For side mirror applications before drilling any holes you should remove the interior side panels to ensure you can access the inside of your mirror from inside the vehicle. If the vehicle does not have power side mirrors there may not be any way to get the wire through the mirror housing from the inside of the vehicle. Also ensure hole saw clearance from all other wires and cable controls before drilling! Installing the Camera 1 Side Camera Kit | Camera-Source | www.camera-source.com | support@camera-source.com 1. Remove all interior panels necessary to gain access to the wiring routing for the new camera. Each application is different so consult a local body shop if you are unsure how a panel is removed. YouTube can also be a good source of information. 2. Ensure inside clearance where the camera will be mounted and drill the mount hole using the included hole saw. DO NOT REAM OUT THE HOLE or the camera will not fit tightly. 3. Feed the camera cable through the newly drilled hole and route it into the interior of the vehicle. Snap the camera into place and set the initial adjustment to an approximate location. You can fine tune this after you have the camera connected to your monitor. 4. Connect the camera to the chassis harness and route toward your monitor. If you are using a lockpick all the power connections and video will go direct to the lockpick camera input. If you are using a universal monitor you will need to locate a suitable power source for the camera. 5. Connect the camera red wire to accessory power source or connect to the camera power lead on your lockpick. Be sure that the camera is not connected to a hot battery source or your camera will drain your battery when the vehicle is parked. 6. Connect the black camera wire to ground. 7. Connect the camera RCA to your video input on the monitor or lockpick. 8. Test the camera and adjust the angle to your liking. Note: The camera is set to be rear facing by default so the image will be mirrored. IF you are using this as a forward looking camera you must clip the small white looped wire on the end of the camera cable. Do this while the power is turned off! Is the chassis harness still connected? Often times it can get pulled apart when pulling the harness toward the driver’s floor so check that first. 2. Was your navigation properly re‐flashed for a backup cam? This is only required when using the factory navigation. You should see a black screen with a banner across the top when in reverse. If not, call your dealer and have them re‐flash it. 3. Do you have power at the camera when the truck is in reverse? Be sure to test the read lead at the camera end FIRST. If you do not have power, check your connection or check the fuse covering the circuit you’re getting power from. 4. Do you have a good ground? 5. Is the video RCA cable connected and secure at your receiver? If you can rule out these potential problems areas, contact us at 888-844-9763 and we will help you resolve the issue. 2 Side Camera Kit | Camera-Source | www.camera-source.com | support@camera-source.com
