HARYANA STATE LEVEL AWARDS FOR WOMEN
1. Indira Gandhi Mahila Shakti Award:- A woman who has done exemplary work in following
areas:  Support and rehabilitation of women and children in especially difficult circumstances
like destitute women and children, widows, victims of atrocities and conflict, disabled
women and children, aged women etc.
 Promoting self-help group/ women empowerment initiatives.
 Established their own business/ industry and have contributed to the development of
women in small span of time besides entrepreneurship.

2. Kalpna Chawla Shaurya Award
A woman who has shown exemplary courage at the risk of their own life.

The award would be given to the woman panchayat leader who have done exemplary work for
the empowerment of women in any of the following areas: 

women and the achievement is voluntary beyond the normal duty and responsibilities.

Mode of nomination
Nomination along with detail of contribution made, with complete bio data may be sent to
the office of the concerned Deputy Commissioner/ Distt. Programme Officer WCD. Who
would forward the nomination with recommendation of District Level Recommending
Committee to Women and Child Development Department, Haryana.
Evaluation and selection
A State Level Selection Committee constituted for the purpose, shall decide the awardees
from amongst the nomination received. The Nomination shall be evaluated on the following
basis:
 Nominee should be a resident of Haryana/ born in Haryana and working for the
cause of women in Haryana.
 The achievement of the nominee in the relevant field should be clear and well
documented.
 Nominee should be alive on the date of nomination.
 The achievement of the nominee should be verified and subject to objective
appraisals.
 Preference should be given to women who have come up in mainstream of life after
a great deal of struggle and adversity.
 The sole criteria for the selection would be performance and her dedication for the
cause of women
 Nominee should apply on prescribed application performa and one affidavit with the
declaration that there is nothing adverse against her i.e. for enquiry in any
forum/department/court etc and in case of any wrong information/mismanagement
found in future, the award and money would be refunded to Government.

