Syllabus
Course Dates:
Course begins on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 and concludes on Thursday, October 4, 2012
and consists of eight 2 to 3 hour-long live meetings (see schedule below) totaling approximately
18 to 20 hours of instructor-led curriculum, delivered through the DHI Online Education and
Membership system.

Course Description:
Knowledge of the industry-related codes and standards differentiates our industry from
numerous other distributor-chain driven industries. This course covers NFPA 80, Standard For
Fire Doors and Other Opening Protectives ( 2007 edition), NFPA 101, Life Safety Code (2006),
ICC/ANSI A117.1, Usable and Accessible Building and Facilities (2003 edition), and
International Building Code (2006 edition).

x Requirements for fire-rated openings
x Requirements for means of egress openings

Class Exam
Class Exam:
Class exam consists of 40 multiple-choice questions and is designed to be open book. The
exam is delivered online and is timed; 90 minutes are allotted. Exam will be available
immediately following the last class session for seven days. A minimum passing score of 75%
is required to successfully complete this course.
