CABLE BRACKET INSTRUCTION SHEET
SUBJECT: INSTRUCTIONS FOR CORD BRACKET SUPPORT KIT
P/N 9-001554 (For 1½” Pumps, AWG #14/4 cable)
1.0 SCOPE:

Kit Part Numbers
This process specification describes the installation of cord bracket support kit when changing
from the kellums grip support configuration to the bracket cord support configuration.
2.0 THE INSTALLATION:
2.1
Review Figure #1 for AWG #14/4 to see assembly installation
2.2
Remove cord grip assembly nut. (Remove cord from pump control if repotting of gland
assembly is to be avoided. Slide nut off control end of cord).
2.3
Remove the mesh grip assembly by compressing grip to relax its hold on cord and slide it off
control end of cord by pushing on ring end of grip.
2.4
Slide the following parts down the cable in the order named to make up the new grip assembly:
two washers, new cord grip assembly nut (For AWG #14/4, use existing nut). Assemble nut onto
gland and torque assembly until nut contacts washer. Continue tightening 1½ to 2 full turns.
2.5
Assemble bushing and bracket to secure cable at 6½” for AWG #14/4 from cord grip nut.
See Figure #1 for routing cord through bracket. Route the cord, assemble the bushing using a
small “C” clamp or lock pliers to compress the bushing while assembling. Using plier or clamps
to compress bushing, simultaneously drive bushing in using channel lock pliers by squeezing
between bushing and bracket.
2.6
Bolt bracket in place using two existing discharge head bolts and washers. Reassemble pump
cord into control.
