Book Bags: The kids are bringing home their book bags again. It is okay to read the
books to them, with them and then let them try on their own. This week I let them
choose a book from our classroom library to bring home and read to you. This book
should be aligned with your child’s reading level. Please have them read it to you
and then return both books on Monday. Rereading favorite books at home or books
from their kindergarten book box is also great practice. Remember to have your
child read 10 or more minutes every night.

Spelling Rule
Short a
Spelling: The kids will bring home a paper copy of their spelling words on
Monday. You will also find them in the newsletter each week to give you a head
start.
The kids will also have a sentence
that they will need to write out. I
will say the sentence many times
and they will listen for the words
and write the sentence out. For
now, they will be graded on
spelling only, not capitals and
periods but are encouraged to
remember correct sentence
structure as they will be graded
on it in the coming weeks.
Homecoming: Homecoming is the week of September 19th -23rd. Shirts are
being ordered today and will be sent home next week.
September Birthdays
Word Wall Strips: The kids are now bringing home their Word Wall Word
Strips in their book bag. This can stay in their book bag or find a place to keep it
safe at home where you will remember to practice each night. You will be discussing Week 1 - What Is a Pal? words next week in school.
