AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY
The automotive service industry is one
of constant change as cars become more
complex. Highly trained technicians are
needed to diagnose and repair today’s
automobiles.
The Automotive Technology program at West
Kentucky Community and Technical College
emphasizes theory of operation and handson training in electrical/electronics, brakes,
suspension, engine repair, fuel, emissions,
engine performance, transmissions and
climate control systems. The student will
practice diagnosis and repair using online
repair manuals and up-to-date diagnostic
repair equipment such as scan tools and
computerized alignment equipment.
Courses are taught by an Automotive Service
Excellence (ASE) master technician.
The skills attained upon program completion
will allow the student to pursue a career in
automotive repair at new car dealerships,
independent repair facilities, fleet repair
facilities, or other opportunities in automotive
parts and service. The program is a National
Automotive Technical Education Foundation
(NATEF) Master Certified School and courses
are designed to help the student prepare to
become ASE certified.
CREDENTIAL OPPORTUNITIES
Students can earn the Associate in Applied
Science (AAS) in Automotive Technology
degree with an Automotive Technician option.
