The Next Generation Of
Surge Suppression systems
O V E R V I E W :
The Vortexx-Cap® surge suppression module is used either as a
stand alone protection element integrated inside larger systems
or within PSP Transient Voltage Surge Suppressor Systems. It
incorporates a single, heavy duty, distribution grade Metal
Oxide Varistor (MOV) disk, assembled under pressure in an
environmentally sealed aluminum casing.
Vortexx-Cap’s® unique design provides very low internal contact
resistance, excellent thermal management of the MOV and
uniform distribution of the surge current over the total area of
the protection element, thus resulting in an extremely high
energy handling capability combined with very low let-through
voltages. Vortexx-Cap’s® patented design minimizes the effects
of aging and completely eliminates the risk of catastrophic
failure, explosion or fire, which are common in conventional
surge protection devices.
Independent test data confirms that a 40mm Vortexx-Caps
module can withstand 100 kA strikes with 0% change in
clamping voltage. The 80mm Vortexx module can
withstand strikes up to 200 kA safeguarding critical
electronic infrastructure against any potential threat.
Vortexx-Cap® incorporates state-of-the-art MOV.technology
developments providing superior protection characteristics,
which remain unchanged throughout its long service life. The
module has been designed in order to withstand repeated
surges providing a cost effective and maintenance free
operation in harsh environments.
Vortexx-Cap® is the only UL 1449 3rd edition, recognized surge
protection module in the industry rated for safe operation
without the use of additional internal fuses. This unique feature
combined with its capability to be directly connected to the
power lines or bus bars (in-line connection), makes it the most
reliable surge protection device known and insures that critical
electronic equipment will remain protected at all times.

The Hurricane 3000 Series Surge Suppression device is the
culmination of years of technological research and
innovation. The Hurricane 3000 provides state of the art
protection in 100, 200 and 300 kA/phase configurations.
Adaptable to many different voltages and Delta and WYE
configurations, the Hurricane 3000 is suitable for almost
any TVSS need or environment.
The Hurricane 3000 provides protection in all modes, L-N,
L-G, N-G AND L-L plus noise filtration up to -50dB. Its
robust yet compact Nema 4 metal enclosure is suitable for
both indoor and outdoor installations.
Utilizing high-energy MOVs and EMI/RFI filtering, the
Hurricane 3000 will protect against transients originating
from induced lightning strikes, utility switching or internal
motor operation. The Hurricane 3000’s internal SCCR (Short
Circuit Current Rating) of 200 kA makes it capable of being
installed in both Service and Branch panel applications
without the need for cumbersome inline fusing.

The MJ8 Series is designed to protect sensitive
data-monitoring equipment connected to various network
protocols from transient over voltages.

The MJ8 Series surge protector is deployed in a RS-485
signal network applications with data transmission speeds
of up to1000 Mbps. The surge protector is housed in a
shielded enclosure with high quality shielded RJ45 jacks.
The transient protection circuit is based on high energy
gas discharge tubes (GDT) and a network of fast response
silicon avalanche diodes (SAD) to achieve sharp clamping
of very large surge events.
