NOCN Assessor Qualifications NOCN has a range of qualifications developed by Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) which cover assessment and the quality assurance of assessment. Qualifications for assessors: NOCN Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (QCF) NOCN Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment (QCF) NOCN Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (QCF) These national qualifications have been designed expressly to equip individuals with a broad range of generic quality assurance skills. Centres currently delivering or wishing to deliver One Awards units and/or NOCN qualifications are recommended for their staff to hold either an Assessor or Internal Quality Assurance qualification dependant on their job role. NOCN Level 3 Assessor Award Target Group Information Intended for those who wish to gain an understanding of the principles and practices of assessment. The minimum age for access to these qualifications is 16. This qualification supersedes the NOCN Tutor Assessor Award (TAA) Equivalencies: The previous tutor assessor award, D32/33, A1 are equivalents for this qualification. The Qualifications consist of up to 3 units at Level 3: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment - 3 credits Assess occupational competence in the work environment - 6 credits Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding - 6 credits Application The units can be achieved in the combinations as shown overleaf and the cost of the course may vary on the combination of units chosen Units will cover: Principles and requirements of assessment; Carry out assessments; Provision of information; Different types of assessment method; Assessment planning and preparation; Learner involvement; Making assessment decisions; Quality assurance of the assessment process; Legal requirements in relation to assessment. This Award is assessed through a range of written tasks, assignments, projects, case studies resulting in a portfolio produced to meet the assessment criteria Application forms should be completed and submitted to One Awards. Understanding the principles and practices of assessment 3 credits NOCN Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment (QCF) Qualification No. 600/0742/4 Unit 1: Unit 2: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment Assess occupational competence in the work environment 3 credits 6 credits This qualification is intended for assessors who deliver QCF qualifications that use the term ‘NVQ’ in their title and for other non-NVQ staff whose purpose is D1 Confirm occupational competence. NOCN Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (QCF) Qualification No. 600/0741/2 Unit 1: Unit 3: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding 3 credits 6 credits This qualification is intended for those assessing non-NVQ or non-competence-based vocational qualifications within the QCF on a ‘devolved’ basis meet agreed standards of assessment NOCN Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (QCF) Qualification No. 600/0739/4 This qualification is intended for those whose role involves the assessment of both occupational competence and vocationally related achievement.
