For around 20 years, igus® has been supplying
assembled readychain® e-chainsystems®. To
bring them quickly and safely to the machine
igus® introduced a newly developed telescopically extendable transport rack using a modular
design, which adapts precisely to your machine
interface, to the millimeter, within a single working day. The processing costs in mechanical
and plant engineering will therefore fall significantly.

2 Flexible components
The telescoping supports and braces of the readychain® rack allow flexible adaptation to the
installation situation on site.
Changes in mass production can be undertaken
easily. By the latching mechanism, additional components can also be easily attached to the rack
subsequently.

Sustainable use
The components of the readychain® rack are
galvanized and thus designed for a long life.
Each rack is constructed within a few hours. The
individual elements can be reused at any time removing the need to dispose of custom made parts, as
with conventional welded transport racks.

Today, 400 to 500 readychain® orders are assembled per week in the igus® location in Cologne alone
in three shifts of 127 employees. In addition, there
are 13 project managers. In the quality assurance
division, the functional reliability of each readychain®
system is tested with special test equipment before
it goes for shipping. Available for this purpose are,
more than five test fields, around 1,800 test adapters and approximately 18,000 test programs.
Details are all important. From the joint development of a provisional rack at the customer‘s site
through the steel construction up to series production; currently it takes from a few weeks to a few
months. Subsequent changes to welded frames are
then complicated and costly. Now, a new transport
and mounting frame has been developed with a modular design, which consists of supports and braces
that fit together perfectly. Moreover they are telescopically adjustable, enabling a length adjustment at
any time. Various latching mechanisms ensure that
components can also be mounted subsequently.
The entire system can be moved and transported
easily due to specially developed transport units.
Precise fitting „Plug & Play“
All interfaces and attachments are designed in
such a way that the installation of the energy
chain® can be managed quickly and easily.
The complete package includes the matching plugs
and connectors, plates, sensor actuator boxes,
linear bearings, links to the central lubrication, etc.,
all reducing the installation time considerably.

The new telescoping transport and mounting frame for completely pre-assembled and tested energy chain systems® from
igus®. Environmentally-friendly through the unlimited reuse of its
individual modules, installed within a few hours and reaping economic benefits already from five systems per year.
An appropriate system can be put together within
a day in cooperation with the customer. If modifications to the machine are necessary through alterations, they can be undertaken easily at any-time
due to the variability of the system. If the machine
series is discontinued by the customer, the transport and mounting frame is dismantled into its
component parts and the individual components
are reused. Thus the new rack also improves the
environmentally-friendly nature and provides a more
sustainable use of resources; earlier the transport
rack had to be disposed of after end of the series
production finished.
The telescopic frame is a means of cutting down
processing costs in companies, which are mainly
personnel costs, on the long term. The idea is to
reduce installation times. The faster the assembled
energy supply system is delivered, the shorter are
the delivery times of the machine manufacturer,
allowing them to stay competitive and responsive in
their market. This relatively low-cost approach pays
back already from a production of five units per year
and thus enables machine manufacturers to take
advantage of the new modular rack even for small
series production.
