   Faculty share a portion of the premium cost, determined using a percentage of salary

Life and Disability
Eligibility
Basic Life, AD&D, and Long-Term Disability are provided at no cost. Disability has a
one year waiting period. Supplemental coverage is also available at group rates.
With the exception of noted
waiting periods, faculty are
eligible for benefits effective the
date of hire.
Basic Life – 1x annual salary up to $50,000
Disability – 60% of monthly earnings up to $13,333.34
Supplemental Life - $25,000 increments up to $500,000
Individual Disability – 15% of monthly earnings

The University offers two dental plans through United Concordia for a per month cost:

   Vision Plans
Faculty can elect membership in an eyewear discount plan for a $9 annual fee, or a
vision insurance plan through Vision Benefits of America (VBA) for a monthly charge:

Part-time faculty are eligible for
individual coverage, with the

Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
These accounts allow faculty to set aside money to pay for
qualified health care and/or dependent care expenses. The
use of an FSA reduces income for Federal and Social
Security tax purposes
   Holidays
The University recognizes seven national holidays: New
Year's Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day,
Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and
Christmas Day. In addition, there is a reduced schedule the
day before Thanksgiving and the Friday after Thanksgiving,
and 5 days designated annually leading up to the New Year
holiday.
   Tuition Benefits
The University has four tuition programs. Years of service
in other benefits eligible positions in Higher Education
count toward the waiting periods for these benefits.

   Retirement Plan
The retirement program is provided through TIAA-CREF on
a contributory basis. After a one year waiting period*, the
University will contribute an amount equivalent to ten
percent of base salary.
Upon eligibility, faculty members are required to contribute
either 6 % of salary, or 6% of salary minus $17,700
Participants are 100% vested from the date of enrollment.
*The waiting period may be waived if the faculty member
had employer contributions to a qualified 403(b) plan
through another non-profit institution within the prior 12
month period.
Be Well Program
Bucknell's Wellness Initiative is a suite of tools and
resources faculty can use to become their happiest and
reach their full potential — however they wish to define it for
themselves. Participation in the Be Well program is
voluntary. Participants have the opportunity to earn an
annual cash incentive for participation in the program.
   University Access
ID Card - Faculty have free access to the University fitness
facilities, most sporting events, discounts at Weis Center
events, a discount at the Barnes & Noble University
Bookstore, and access to many Library & IT services.
Parking - Parking is free. Faculty may get parking decals for
up to three vehicles.
