Revolution is easy to prime and de-bubble
because of its open impeller design. With its
unprecedented flow efficiency, you can achieve
desired flow rates with minimal revolutions per minute.
Revolution’s simple design supports its
unsurpassed flow efficiency. Patented seal-less,
low friction bearings improve pump-head reliability.
The blood actually serves to cool the bearings which
results in low heat generation throughout the pumphead and less blood trauma overall. The injection
molded magnet offers high reliability and improved
magnetic coupling.

Revolution’s patented “spin-inducer” impeller
design contributes to low shear and low hemolysis.
The extended impeller helps create a rotational
flow upstream of the inlet. The patented curved
inlet port allows a gentle transition of red blood cells
as the blood enters the pump-head. These features
result in low shear and less blood trauma.
Revolution’s impeller design with six washout holes
maintains a continuous blood flow path free of vane-tip
vortices. This was confirmed using flow visualization,
an advanced high-speed video technique and
Computational Flow Dynamics (CFD) modeling.

The Sorin Group Revolution Centrifugal Blood Pump utilizes a
rotating, vaned impeller design to move blood by centrifugal
force. The pump is intended for use with Sorin Centrifugal Pump
Consoles in cardiopulmonary bypass procedures for periods of
up to six hours.
