IrfanView – Tiff to Jpeg conversion
IrfanView can be used to convert a batch of tiff files into jpg files for access purposes. The
following guidelines include information on the initial tiff to jpeg conversion as well as the
conversion from jpeg to thumbnail jpeg. (Batch conversions can also be done to resize file or
rename files with this program.)
Tiff to Jpeg Conversion
1. Open IrfanView
a. The program opens up a blank black window.
2. Choose Batch Conversion/Rename under the File Menu drop down list.

Set the appropriate settings on the Batch Conversion Window
a. Work As: Batch Conversion
b. Batch Conversion Settings:
i. Output Format: Jpeg
ii. Options: High Quality
iii. Advanced Options: Use if resizing images in addition to converting file
formats – see Jpeg to Jpeg Thumbnail Conversion Instructions
iv. Batch Rename: NA in most situations
v. Output Directory for File Results: Browse to the location in which you
want to put the converted files
4. Select the image/s you wish to run the conversion on using the Look In drop down list on
the right hand side of the window.
a. Select desired images using the Add or Add All buttons.
b. Make sure the Files of Type lists the original file format so they will be available
to select.
c. Files that appear in the Input Files window will be converted
5. Click Start Batch.
6. A Batch Conversion window will appear and run through the conversion for each of the
selected files.
7. When done, you will be given an option to Return to Batch or Exit Batch.
a. If you do not need to do any additional conversions, you can Exit the Batch which
will close the Batch Conversion Window. Return to Batch will allow you to
adjust the settings and complete another conversion without having to use the File
drop down list again.

Jpeg to Jpeg Thumbnail Conversion
1. Follow the instructions as listed under Tiff to Jpeg conversion
2. Make sure to use the Advanced Option and resize the images to
