What is The “Targeted resumé” simply means that the resumé must be focused on the position you
are applying for. Industry keywords and relevant skills are very important to highlight. You

What to
include?

Content is targeted, select one of two main resume categories

Read the employers job descriptions to ensure what you write is relevant to the position

qualification (career summary) and experience sections

Examples of achievements or accomplishments to show evidence of skills statements

Know what job you are targeting – For example, Junior Accounting at BDW CPA Inc.
Identify the key words that define your job objective. Highlight the qualifications, skills,
experiences and qualifications from the company’s job descriptions or by conducting an
online search
Make a list of all the work-related skills, activities, and responsibilities that showcase your
transferable skills and relate to the job goal
Make a copy of your master resume – name the resumé file for the targeted resume you’re
creating
Delete statements – or sections that are not relevant to the job objective.
Create an objective or career profile statement on your resumé for the specific position
and company to ensure that the reader will understand clearly what job you are applying
for.
Get the right keywords in your targeted resume.
Tailor your Summary section - it highlights only the skills and qualifications for your target
job
List your work history – chronological or functional format – you decide
Write achievement (proof or accomplishment) statements to demonstrate your
(transferable) skills and qualifications that are related to the new job goal. Notice that all
statements were created using both an action verb and then a numerical measurement to
create more of an impact. It’s fine to leave out tasks that don’t related to the job goal.

accounts receivables by 20%.
