He received the Engineering Diploma in Computer Science (1984) and the Ph.D. (Thesis: “Variance-reducing techniques for simulation methods in system reliability analysis” (1986) from the Technical University Vienna. In 1998, he completed his Habilitation in the field of Computer Science in Biomechanics and Kinesiology. Since 2008, he is Full Professor at the Department of Biomechanics, Kinesiology and Applied Computer Science at the University of Vienna. He has been President of the International Association of Computer Science in Sport from 2007-2013 and is now Honorary President of this association. He is Founding Editor-in-Chief of the eJournal "International Journal of Computer Science in Sport", is member of the editorial or advisory board of eight international journals and reviewer of numerous national and foreign scientific journals, such as Journal of Biomechanics, Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, European Journal of Applied Physiology. Furthermore, he serves as a reviewer for several national research foundations, such as the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). In 1999, he organized the 2nd International Symposium on Computer Science in Sport in Vienna, Austria, he is President of the 21st Annual Congress of the European College of Sport Science, which will take place in Vienna in July, 2016. Arnold Baca has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed journal and conference articles, book chapters and 7 books.
