Residence Hall Check-In and Move-In
Residence Life, 212 Campus Center
Residence halls open for new resident students. Check in
at Residence Life to pick up keys before moving into your
assigned residence hall.

Orientation Check-In
Campus Center, Lobby
Pick up your Orientation packet and meet your Orientation
Aide (OA). Learn whether any holds exist on your student
account and, if so, how to remedy the situation.

Breakfast Options at Marketplace
Campus Center, Marketplace
The Marketplace will have hot beverages and continental
breakfast options available for purchase.

W&M Tribe Card Processing
Tribe Card Services, 169 Campus Center
Get your William & Mary Tribe Card. Your Tribe Card
provides access to Dining Halls, Residence Halls, and
events during Orientation. Make a deposit on your
W&M Express account at this time as well to have
access to over 50 on- and off-campus merchants. Manage your Tribe Card through tribecard.wm.edu and
make online deposits to your W&M Express account via
getfunds.wm.edu .

Meal Plan Information
Campus Center, Atrium
Meal plans come in many different shapes and sizes,
conveniently tailored for the varying needs of individual
students living both on and off campus. Use this
opportunity to discuss your needs with a Dining Services
representative to ensure the selection of the most applicable
meal plan. The Campus Dietitian will also be available to
answer questions from students looking to maintain a
healthy lifestyle. After 11 am, visit Dining Services online at www.wm.edu/dining
for more information and to register for a meal plan.

Parking Decals Available
Campus Center, Atrium
If you have privileges to park on campus, please make sure
that you register your car and pick up your parking decal. All parking regulations will be in effect during Orientation
weekend.
From 11 am–4:30 pm, visit the Parking Office, 201 Ukrop Way
for decal processing and pick-up. The office will resume normal
business hours on Tuesday, January 19.

Pick up your mailbox keys at the Post Office, located on the
1st floor of the Sadler Center.

Chat with the Academic Deans about academic expectations
at William & Mary, what majors and minors mean at a liberal
arts college, how you can support your student in their
academic endeavors, and undergraduate opportunities to
participate in research and study abroad or in Washington, DC.

Helping Students Get the Help They Need

Many students transitioning into a new college environment
eventually experience some challenge to their physical and
emotional well-being. This program provides an opportunity
for families to hear about services available to support optimal
physical and mental health while at William & Mary.

Afternoon Coffee and Dessert Lounge

Take a moment to refuel with complimentary coffee and tea
alongside light dessert options. This space will remain open
for the remainder of the Family Orientation schedule.
Feel free to utilize this space during presentation downtime
and network with other new student families.

Chat with Marjorie Thomas, Dean of Students, about how the
college journey can be an exciting and challenging time for
students and families. Find out more about the supports and
opportunities available.

Join members of the Financial Aid staff to explore the financial
and employment resources available to students.
Transfers and the Campus Living Experience

Join Deb Boykin, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs
(Campus Living) and Director of Residence Life, to learn
about the upcoming experiences your student may have
during his or her first semester. Learn how the experiences
your student has in the next few weeks impact the rest of their
time at the College.

It is the perfect time to start thinking about how you can

Planning Your Academic Path
Morton Hall, Room 20
Learn about the benefits of a William & Mary Liberal Arts
education while considering your future academic plans.
The transfer credit process will be covered and students
will have the opportunity to work in smaller groups to
prepare for the course registration process and meeting
with their faculty advisor. Note: Students should bring
copies of their transcripts, as well as their laptop
computer, if available, to this session.

Course Registration Begins
Morton Hall, Various Classrooms
All new students entering in the spring 2016 semester will
register for up to 11 credits in a Computer Lab or via their
own laptop with their Orientation Group. Advisors and Peer
Advisors will be available to answer specific questions and
help guide the students through the registration process.

Foundations & New Beginnings: Your New Tribe Home
Morton Hall, Various Classrooms
Meet your Orientation Aides (OAs) and other students
in your orientation group as you explore the basics of
the William & Mary community.

Ghost Tour
Students will meet at the Wren Building for a ghost tour

Authentic Excellence
Sadler Center, Chesapeake A
This program explores the Plateau Effect, the tendency for
people to stay “stuck at good.” And how the college transition
can be a critical time for either breaking that pattern or
cementing it further. Students will learn about a new
program, the Authentic Excellence Initiative, designed to
move us beyond the Plateau Effect and enhance productivity,
fulfillment, and resilience.

International Student Orientation
All international non-degree seeking students will receive
information from the Reves Center for International Studies.

Learning Your ABC’s: Foundations for Academic Success
Sadler Center, Chesapeake A
All degree-seeking new students will be introduced to
three campus resources that support a successful transition:
the Office of Academic Advising, Assistant Dean Boone of
the Dean of Students Office, and the Cohen Career Center.
Information will be provided around a variety of topics
including academic requirements, exploring and declaring
majors, networking with faculty and staff, academic
enrichment resources, and career readiness opportunities.

Understanding the community you are joining is a key to

academic buildings in the country. Following your tour,
there will be a ceremony for all new spring students to

Each student must meet with their advisor to review and
plan a schedule for spring semester. Meet during the time
you arranged during Friday’s registration period. Students
will receive a PIN at the end of the meeting. This PIN is
necessary to complete the registration process later

OAs will meet students on the :45 in the Sadler Center Lobby
to walk to the Swem Library for a tour with library faculty.

The Information You Want in a One-Stop Environment

W&M has numerous resources to help students be successful
throughout their university experience. Representatives from
offices across campus (from the Dean of Students Office to
the Counseling Center, from the Neurodiversity Initiative
to the Cohen Career Center, and more!) will be available
in one convenient area this morning so you can pursue
the information you want to ensure a positive start to the
semester. Your OA has the full list of participating offices

Charter Day 2016
The 2016 Charter Day Ceremony will take place on
Friday, February 5, at William & Mary Hall. Celebrating
323 years of the birth of the College by Royal Charter,
Charter Day festivities will involve students, faculty,
staff and alumni, as well as the local community.
