While the exact duration of the project is yet to be determined, we currently anticipate a period of 3-5 years based on business needs at the present time following which you will separate from the Company. It is important for you to understand that this period may be shortened based on business needs in the future at which point you will separate from the Company. It is also important for you to understand that this employment is of a limited duration and that you will not be entitled to separation benefits under any PSEG plan at the time you separate from the Company. The title, grade level and incentive target assigned to the successful candidate will be determined by assessing skills and related experience, learned through the interview process. This job involves working as an engineer in Electric & Gas Asset Strategy organization, utilizing a broad knowledge of business and engineering principles and practices acquired through progressive experience. PSE&G is New Jersey’s oldest and largest electric and gas utility serving over 2 million customers throughout the state’s most densely populated central corridor. PSE&G – Electric Delivery owns and operates over 250 switching stations and substations at voltage ranges from 4,000 volts to 500,000 volts interconnected via a high voltage transmission system that covers most of the state. Job duties and responsibilities include: • Perform engineering studies, technical analysis and interpretation of data. • Perform Load Flows and System Simulation / Response Studies. • Support 24x7 electric system operations for Transmission and/or Distribution. • Work with System Operations personnel and to provide Engineering support. • Perform system, communication, database, display building and trouble shooting. • Expand knowledge of PSE&G operations through Company development programs and on-thejob training. • Oversee special projects involving technical, field personnel, consultants, and contractors. • Administer Company/Union labor agreements in accordance with Company policy. • Provide technical assistance in implementing special programs, new equipment and new techniques. • Provide technical support and problem resolution for existing equipment/technologies. Required: • Recent graduate with B.S in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree or technical experience, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher from an accredited institution. Desired: • Experience with electrical utility or plant and knowledge of electrical substations and switching stations equipment, e.g., transformers, circuit breakers, medium voltage switchgear, regulators, capacitor banks, disconnect switches and associated electrical system for switching and substations and or outside plant electric distribution and/or transmission systems. • Experience in working on electrical layout, one line control, controls schematics for protective relays, alarms, auxiliary power, SCADA/EMS and metering circuits in order to effectively support electric system operations needs as well as on-going projects. • Experience with modern protective equipment such as microprocessor relays, substation data concentrators, digital fault recorders, RTU etc. • Advanced technical training or P.E license • Familiarity with utility best practices, IEEE, ASME, NESC and NEMA Standards. The successful candidate will be a member of the primary team responsible for the replacement of the existing EMS system. Also, accountable for the quality and availability of the real-time information and complex computer systems required for the operation of the Electric System Operation Center (ESOC), 24 hours x 365 days per year. Provide a range of high-level engineering consulting services to maintain the integrity of the Bulk Electric Systems. Consults at a high level by providing design, analysis, and maintenance of advanced applications, EMS (Energy Management system) infrastructure, and database management. Provides technical support to client and associate support staff to ensure development and deployment of efficient application systems utilizing established standards, procedures and methodologies. Performs related duties as assigned or requested. Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG Standards for Business Controls and NERC CIP requirements (North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection). Required Qualifications, Competencies, Education or Experience: • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. • Demonstrated knowledge of the Linux operating environment, Linux shells, and standard utilities. • Working knowledge of broadband telecommunication technology (e.g., network protocols and topologies). • Demonstrated experience with Transmission/Distribution systems, substation automation, SCADA systems or similar industry exposure. • Must possess the ability to read electric one-line diagrams, schematics, and be able to interpret applicable technical information. • Must have a valid driver’s license. • Occasional travel required. • On call 24/7 hours to assist during system emergency situations. • Must foster an inclusive work environment and respects all aspects of diversity.
