The goal of the program is to improve the quality and consistency of water ski instruction in the United States. Refer to the Coaches Development Program Quantitative Requirements for Advancement and Renewal for more information. USA WATER SKI LEVEL 1 INSTRUCTOR (ages 18 and up): USA Water Ski provides training and certification for aspiring instructors and coaches to teach students the necessary skills to safely and successfully participate in the various USA Water Ski sport disciplines. In an effort to ensure that USA Water Ski certified instructors and coaches are well versed in the importance of the health and safety of all students, especially minors, USA Water Ski requires all instructors and coaches to submit to and pass a Criminal Background Screening and SafeSport training program. The cost of the course is $70.00 or $110.00 if you elect to purchase the optional coaches liability insurance coverage. Please see below for more information on the three components of the Level 1 Instructor's Course. Minimum Requirements: current USA Water Ski Active member (does not include GrassRoots or Guest members) age 18 or above valid social security number Note: Foreign instructors/coaches and those under the age of 18 are not eligible for this program. 1) Criminal Background Screening: This process includes the investigation and review of various consumer reports and law enforcement/public records including, but not limited to, the items listed below. Results are returned within, on average, three (3) business days. Criminal History Check Sex Offender Registry Check Social Security Number Check Address Checks Employment Checks Reference Checks 2) SafeSport Training: This training, originally created by the U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC), and adapted by USA Water Ski, focuses on recognizing and reducing circumstances for potential abuse to occur, the availability and procedures for any person to report suspected abuse or misconduct (including protections from any retaliation or repercussions for such reporting) and procedures and means by which a coach should respond to allegations of abuse and misconduct. Upon completion of the training, you will be required to answer a series of 20 multiple choice or true/false questions. The test results are graded and presented immediately. Passing = 90% 3) Level 1 Instructor’s Training: The Level 1 training is an introduction to the sport of water skiing and the first rung on the ladder of USA Water Ski's Coaches Certification Program. Level 1 introduces beginning teaching techniques for introducing two-ski, one-ski and tricks skiing; teaching methods for beginning wakeboard, kneeboard and barefoot skills, plus a section on water toys. Upon completion of the training, you will be required to answer a series of multiple choice questions based on each chapter of the Level 1 course. Passing = 80% N v 27 F:\Membsvcs\Coaches Program\Program Documents\USA-WS Coaches Program Description Rev. 1-2015.Docx - 2/4/2015 2016 Common_19-30.indd 27 2/22/16 10:55 AM OPTIONAL COACHES LIABILITY INSURANCE PROGRAM: USA Water Ski offers certified instructors/coaches who have completed the required Criminal Background Screening and SafeSport Training the option of participating in the our Coaches Liability Insurance Program. Introducing the all new Introducing the all new RéV 6™ with FlexTail™ technology. The all-new RéV 6 The RéV 6 is a giant leap forward for the FlexTail, a ski that powered Chris Parrish to the No. 1 spot on the IWWF world rankings list, won multiple Big Dawg titles and pushed skiers across the globe to countless new line lengths. The magic in the all-new RéV 6 lies in it’s highly refined length-to-width ratios. Rigorous R&D discovered a slightly longer length that works in perfect harmony with the lateral flex induced by the FlexTail – creating the speed of a longer ski and the turning characteristics of a shorter one. The result is a huge advancement in ski design and the best-performing GOODE ever. Experience the new RéV 6 Experience for yourself how the increased efficiency of the RéV 6 allows you to generate more speed from the buoy line to the first wake, leaving you up-course and ahead of the boat, all with more line control and less physical exertion and fatigue. With the RéV 6, you’ll have a whole new look at the course, not to mention a higher buoy count. World-record Technology Find out why GOODE has held a world slalom record uninterrupted since 1996 and continues to push innovation like no other ski company. Make 2016 your year.
