Instructions for Processing Utility Meter
Readings in AiM (6.x)
For utilities that charge by RATE – such as STEAM:
1. Click the UTILITY MANAGEMENT logo to take you back to the Utility Management main screen.
2. Click the NEW
icon beside METER READING ROUTE.
3. Enter the DESCRIPTION of the UTILITY.
4. Click the CALENDAR
5. Click the ZOOM
icon to enter the READING DATE.

6. Click the ZOOM
beside READER and select your username.
7. Obtain the approved STEAM usages report from the Assistant Director of Physical Plant.
a. CAUTION: Sometimes meters will be updated and the “multiplier” for the meter will
change. Be sure to verify that the multipliers are the same on both the report and AiM. If
not, refer to the “Utility Metter section of the “Adding a Utilities Meter” documentation.
8. Enter the USAGE for each meter.
9. Click the SAVE

For utilities where the rate fluctuates monthly and is charged by total expenses – such as WATER:
1. Click the UTILITY MANAGEMENT logo to take you back to the Utility Management main screen.
2. Click the NEW
icon beside METER READING ROUTE.
3. Enter the DESCRIPTION of the UTILITY.
4. Click the CALENDAR
5. Click the ZOOM
icon to enter the READING DATE.
icon to select the ROUTE – the meters associated with this utility.
6. Click the ZOOM
beside READER and select the user who read the meters (usually MILLER
KL).
7. Obtain the WATER usages report from the Assistant Director of Physical Plant.
a. NOTE: The ASU Water Report will have Blow Down and Make Up amounts – be sure to
not factor these into the readings.
b. CAUTION: Sometimes meters will be updated and the “multiplier” for the meter will
change. Be sure to verify that the multipliers are the same on both the report and AiM. If
not, refer to the “Utility Metter section of the “Adding a Utilities Meter” documentation.
8. Verify that the PRIOR READING for each meter matches the prior month reading on the report.
If they do not, you will need to manually copy the current month meter readings from the

report and adjust them up or down so that the month-to-month difference matches the monthto-month difference on the report.
a. Example:
i. Report has prior month reading as 5
ii. Current month reading on the report shows as 80
iii. AiM has prior month reading as 100
iv. Find the monthly usage by calculating the difference between the report’s
current reading and the report’s prior month reading: 80 – 5 = 75.
v. Add that usage to the prior month reading in AiM: 100 + 75 = 175. This is your
adjusted reading.
9. Enter the adjusted reading into the READING field for each meter.
10. Total the usages and make sure that the total matches the total usages from the report.
11. Click the SAVE
