English speaking college or university for at least one year, UCL requires you to submit scores from a recognized English language testing agency*. Each UCL department/faculty has established a required level of English language competency: Standard, Good or

Advanced.

UCL offers both catered and self-catering accommodation. Two Halls of Residence offer catered housing, which provides breakfast and dinner from Monday to Friday excluding

Bank Holidays. These halls have small kitchens on each floor for student use. Students are responsible for cleaning their own rooms. Self-catering accommodation is offered in Student Houses, residences in which students are responsible for providing and cooking their own food and cleaning their own rooms and common areas. Kitchens are provided where students may prepare their own food, or meals may be bought from the various food outlets on the main UCL campus. Housing costs cover 30 weeks of the academic year plus the Christmas and Easter vacations.

Students who have previously lived abroad, or who have family or friends in London, may wish to arrange their own housing. However, your home school must approve your request and IES cannot accept responsibility for your housing arrangements.

Upon acceptance, students who elect to arrange their own housing must notify the IES

Chicago office no later than the deadline listed on the Independent Housing Form for their program. If timely notification and home school approval are received, students will be eligible to have a housing allocation deducted from their program fee. If notification is received after the deadline, no deduction will be given.
