RULES
The Music Association “Orchestra Giovanile della Saccisica” of Piove di Sacco holds
the 7th Music Competition “Città di Piove di Sacco” for pianists, chamber
ensembles and other instrumentalists. The competition, dedicated in developing
the artistic promise of talented young musicians and designed for musicians of
any nationality, will be held from May 5th to May 11th 2014 at the Auditorium
Giovanni Paolo II in Piove di Sacco (in the Veneto Region, near Padua and
Venice) with the Winners’ Final Concert on May 11th 2014 at 11am.
The competition is divided in 3 Sections each one consists into Categories
referring at the musicians’ age, as follows:
- Section I: Piano
Category Prime Note - for people born after 01-01-2006 (program’s length:
max 4 minutes)
Cat. A: for people born from 01-01-2004 to 31-12-2005 (program’s length: max
5 minutes)
Cat. B: for people born from 01-01-2001 to 31-12-2003 (program’s length: max
7 minutes)
Cat. C: for people born from 01-01-1998 to 31-12-2000 (program’s length: max
10 minutes)
Cat. D:for people born from 01-01-1995 to 31-12-1997 (program’s length: max
15 minutes)
Cat. E: for people born from 01-01-1991 to 31-12-1994 (program’s length: max
20 minutes)
Cat. F: No Age Limits

- Section II: Chamber Ensembles and Piano 4 hands °
Cat. G: average age up to 14 years old (included)

° Applicants may only enter one Category of each Section (even higher than the
one related to their age in Section I or III). For Section II (chamber music and piano
4 hands) the Category will be attributed according to the ensemble average age
calculated before the deadline (April 15th).
Program:
The program to be performed is of free choice. It is not mandatory to perform by
memory. Competitors are not obliged to fully cover time limits. The Judging Board
may interrupt a performance if it exceeds time limits.
Accompanist:
Competitors of Section III will be allowed to provide and use their own pianist, for
whom there will be no registration fee. Should soloists wish to use a pianist made
available by the organization they must select it on the online application form
and pay an additional fee (to be defined with the organization) and submit copies
of the selections to be performed along with the registration form before the
deadline.
Instruments:
Only a Gran Piano and some warm up pianos will be available for candidates.
Candidates are required to supply all other instruments useful for their
performances, including stands. Those who register for the competition must
accept all the regulations herein mentioned.
The competition organizers will not be liable for risks or damage of any nature to
people or property during the event.
Auditions:
Candidates will be admitted to auditions in alphabetical order (exceptions can be
made, up to the Organization’s needs).
The calendar of the auditions will be available on-line 15 days prior the
Competition
(www.orchestragiovaniledellasaccisica.org).
So
the
candidates will access information about the day and the time of their audition
only on the website. All performances will be open to the public. The auditions
and the Winners’ Final Concert will take place at the AUDITORIUM “GIOVANNI
PAOLO II” in Piove di Sacco.
Prior to their audition, candidates will leave to the judges an ID and a copy of the
works to be performed. Right after each category’s auditions, the Jury will
announce the results.
The overall winners of each category will receive their prizes at the Winners’
Final Concert.
Jury:
The Jury will be made up by eminent musicians, teachers in prestigious Music
Academies. Candidates who studied with members of the jury in the past two
years are not allowed to apply at the Competition.

Awards:
The overall winner* of each category will be the candidate with the highest
score, not below 98/100 and will receive a grant, a cup, and many performance
opportunities.
The first prize will be awarded to candidates with a score of 95/100 or above.
The second prize will be awarded to candidates with a score of 90/100 or above.
The third prize will be awarded to candidates with a score of 85/100 or above.
The fourth prize will be awarded to candidates with a score of 80/100 or above.
All contestants will receive a Diploma of attendance.
All the overall winners need to attend the Winners’ Final Concerto in order to
receive the prize. Some of them (selected by the Organization and the Jury) will
perform without compensation according to the program designed by the
organization during the Winners’ Final Concert (on May 11h 2014 at 11 am).
The winners who will not participate at the Final Concert will have their award
revoked.

Teacher’s awards:
The teacher who will have the highest number of pupils attending the Competition
will be awarded an “Honor Certificate”.
Special Prizes:
The Artistic Directors of the Music Associations: “Il Pentagramma” and “Orchestra
Giovanile della Saccisica” will select some young musicians to whom it will be
offered the opportunity to perform at the following events:
- Concerto “Piccole Mani” 2014 in Piove di Sacco (Padua)
- Rassegna “Note Future” 2015 in Camponogara (Venice)
During the Winners’ Final Concert will be announced:
- The “Overall Winner” of the Seventh Edition of the Competition.
Application:
The inextensible deadline for the online registration is: 15th
April 2014.
Prospective applicants are therefore required to:
1) Pay the application fee (see below “application fees”)
2) Go on the Competition page that you will find on the following website
www.orchestragiovaniledellasaccisica.org.

required sections, and you must upload the receipt of the payment of the
fee). After you send it, you will receive an email with the confirmation, if you

This remittance, by way of contribution to the organizational expense, will for no
reason be refunded. The application implies full awareness and unconditional
acceptance of the enumerated rules.

Privacy
Competitors can lay no claim, financial or otherwise, on electronic recordings made
during the phases of the Contest. According to art. 13 of Italian law, 196/03, the
candidates’ personal data will be stored at and by the APS “Orchestra Giovanile della
Saccisica” for information purposes only. All candidates have the right to cancel or edit
data or deny its use.
Travel expenses and accommodations are not provided by the organization. We may
