ISL Newsletter 57 9th October 2015 WELCOME Great to be back here at ISL after a wonderful trip! The course on Curriculum Design I took last week was very interesting and I certainly came back with lots of ideas and new insights! I would like to say congratulations to all our students who did such a wonderful job sharing their learning at our first General Assembly. A taskforce of parents regarding the ISL-playground has started last week! Thank you Efrat, Helene, Felipe, Kim and Caroline for joining and already coming up with so many great and creative ideas!! The first big event our PTA will be organising is the Halloween Kids’ Dance on Sunday afternoon, October 25th. Don’t forget to order your tickets through the ISL-website!! UCLL is kindly donating us bookcases which we can use to set up our library! In the coming weeks we will get back to you on how we will organise this library. On Tuesday, October 20th, our 4th, 5th and 6th Graders will travel to the Belgian seaside to meet their new friends from De Ark for a fun day! Mr Bart and Miss Martine (headmaster at De Ark) met again yesterday to discuss more possibilities to co-operate. I would like to stress the fact that we are so happy to have found such a great partnerschool! We want to say goodbye to Afrah and her family, now they are moving back to India. We wish them all the best! And to end: a lot of birthdays were celebrated the past days here at ISL! Congratulations to Seyhun, Kazushi, Kijora and Miss Shelly! ORGANISATION Next week will be an A-Week. Please check both the schedule and calendar that were sent out earlier! After-school piano lessons with Miss Tulia will start on October 22nd! Still a few places available! Sign up with Miss Donique. UCLL is currently working on a separate driveway for people using our side of the campus. This will no longer involve driving through the One Access-parking and will definitely increase safety on campus! They are also looking into the traffic situation together with the City of Leuven. There is also a desperate need for more buses coming this way. Negotiations with De Lijn have also started. Good news! A additional zebra-crossing will connect our campus to the busstop very soon!
