Packing Gland
In the manufacturing process of Webstone Ball Valves, a PTFE stem seal is used to seal between the shaft of the handle stem and
the valve body. This seal is then compressed around the stem by means of a packing gland, which forms a watertight seal around
the handle stem assembly.
1. Turn handle nut counter clockwise to
remove nut. Remove nut and handle.

2. Turn packing gland gently and
slightly clockwise to tighten.

Over time, due to various environmental conditions, the PTFE material may expand or contract; thereby affecting the quality of this
seal. To combat this, the majority of the packing glands on Webstone’s Ball Valves are adjustable. If a leak should occur, you may
adjust the packing gland by tightening it slightly in a clockwise manner as illustrated below. If the leak persists, please contact
Webstone Technical Support at (800) 225-9529.
3. Replace handle on stem.
Replace and secure nut.
