Provincial Examination Schedule
IMPORTANT NOTES
1. Exam start and end times must be adhered to by all schools. However, if necessary, schools may begin
an exam up to one hour before the scheduled start time to accommodate local schedule conflicts (e.g., bus
schedules). Students must remain in the supervised exam room for a minimum of one hour after the original
scheduled start time (e.g., begin exam at 12 noon but ensure students do not leave until after 2:00 p.m.).
2. There may be instances when a student needs to write exams that are scheduled in the same time slot. When
this happens, allow the student to write the first exam, receive a suitable supervised break and then write the
second exam.
3. In November, April, May and August all exams are electronic only.
4. Translation of Grade 12 exams is determined in September of each year by request from the Conseil scolaire
francophone.
5. All August exams are offered through a student’s school or district. Students should check with their school
prior to the end of the school year to determine exam registration procedures for their school or district.
6. The Ministry of Education aims to ensure this exam schedule does not change. Occasionally circumstances
require changes to the exam schedule after it is initially published. Should changes to the exam schedule be
required, the Ministry of Education will communicate these changes via email through a TRAX Update. An
updated exam schedule will be posted to the Ministry of Education's Provincial Examinations website.
7. An online calendar of important dates related to Provincial Exams and Data Transfers is available at
http://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/exams/calendar.
8. All Provincial Examinations are designed to be completed within two hours. Students are permitted up to 60
additional minutes, if required

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING CHANGES WITHIN THE EXAM SCHEDULES
Exams highlighted in yellow are only available to students who:
a. are writing an exam for the first time having enrolled in and completed the corresponding
Grade 10/11 or BCFNS 12 course by June 2016, or
b. are rewriting a Grade 10/11 or BCFNS 12 exam previously attempted.
As of August 2016, all Grade 10/11 and BCFNS 12 exams are electronic only and will be centrally
marked. Therefore, teachers will no longer be required to access and mark student written responses on
the marking site.
