As in much of the implant industry, Zimmer Dental is a combination of previous aquisitions and new product lines.
Some of the companies whose products were absorbed and either discontinued or improved upon are Core-Vent,
Paragon, Calcitek, Sulzer Medica and Centerpulse.
Current implants offered by Zimmer Dental include the popular Screw-Vent, Tapered Screw-Vent, Advent, SwissPlus,
Zimmer One-Piece and Spline. Compatible components for Screw-Vent and Tapered Screw-Vent are available.
No compatible components are currently available for the SwissPlus, Zimmer One-Piece, Spline or Advent.
The Zimmer Dental compatible component section will be divided into two parts:
PART 1: Screw-Vent (Tapered Screw-Vent) Internal Hex Connection (SD, MD and WD)
PART 2: Integral Internal Non-Hex (flat-top) (discontinued implants including Integral & Omniloc)
In PART 2: Integral: The implants from Calcitek, aquired by Zimmer, now discontinued, are the internal non-hex (flat-top)
Integral and Omniloc. Compatible components for these implants, SD and MD, are available.
Also produced by Calcitek was the Threadloc 3.75, a Branemark RP compatible external hex (discontinued). Compatible
components are available in the Branemark section.

components. The original Core-Vent implant was introduced in 1982 to provide the dental profession with a system that allowed for the most versatile applications at that time.

Components
The Direct Restorative Components are the elements used to fabricate a restoration that
will be connected directly to the implant(s).
The Indirect / Intermediate Restorative Components fit to an intermediate tissue extension
(abutment) which in turn is connected to the implant(s).
The implant body is placed into the bone for approximately 4-6 months to allow for
osseointegration. The implants should not be loaded prior to osseointegration.
Tissue Extension:
Screw-Vent
The TE (Tissue Extension) also referred to as the TSI abutment, is the intermediate
connector between the implant and the restoration, it may extend above the
tissue. In some instances, a TE extension is subgingival, to provide a more
esthetic restoration.

The UMA tissue extension was developed to standardize the many different
implant companies' components and instruments for a more economically controlled inventory and for simplicity of restorative procedures. Its tapered / hexagon
fitting surface is identical, regardless of the size or type of implant employed,
while its screw-in base is implant specific.

IMPRESSION COPINGS -To Fit Implant
Impression copings are used to take an impression of the
implant body or of the tissue extension, such as the UMA, or
the TSI. The one piece titanium impression copings fit to the
implant bodies and are used to transfer the thread timing.
The two piece titanium hexed impression coping transfers
the hex orientation. The Swede-Vent is restoratively compatible with the Branemark - refer to the Branemark compatible
section for components.

Analogs are used for the fabrication of a master model.

DIRECT TITANIUM POSTS AND DIRECT ANGLED ABUTMENTS
Direct abutment posts are available in two configurations,
a two piece in titanium and a one piece in titanium.
The two piece engages the hex of the implant for anti-rotation and is secured with .050" hex fastening screw. The fastening screw is identical for the SD and the MD titanium
post. Two piece titanium Angled Abutments in 15 or 25
degrees are available for divergent implants and include a
.050" hex screw.
The titanium posts can be altered like a preparation. Bulk
trimming of the titanium post should be done outside of the
oral cavity. Fabricate a soft tissue model whenever preparations are made in the laboratory. If the final restoration is to
be retrievable, then consider set screws.

The one piece direct titanium abutment posts (without
external hex) screw into the implant body and may be
secured with Teflon tape or thread adhesive. The tapered
one piece titanium posts can be altered like a preparation.

Titanium Bases for
Zirconia Abutments
TITANIUM BASES FOR ZIRCONIA ABUTMENTS
The new Titanium Base for custom-made zirconia abutments
includes a plastic waxing sleeve that can be contoured with
wax or composite and then scanned. State-of-the-art CAD
CAM technology is used to manufacture the zirconia abutments that are cemented to the titanium bases. The assembled abutment has the dual advantage of a machined titani-
um close-tolerance fitting surface with the implant and with
the titanium retaining screw. The natural tooth colored
zirconia custom abutment provides the ultimate in crown and
bridge aesthetics. The Ti base is available with a color-coded
waxing sleeve and an .050" hex screw. A separate guide pin
is available.

UMA System
UMA ABUTMENT
MD
The UMA Abutment (tissue extension), like the
TSI Abutment, is an intermediate component
made to fit between the implant and the restoration. The UMA has a standardized fitting surface, which allows the UMA restorative components to be interchangeable regardless of the
implant type. The UMA Healing Cap protects the
UMA until the restoration is delivered. The
Bridge Tapered UMA Impression Coping trans-

fers the UMA position while the Hex UMA
Impression Coping transfers the hex orientation of
the UMA Abutment. The UMA Analog replicates
the UMA for the model. The UMA Hex or Non-Hex
Plastic Cylinders are used to make frameworks for
bridges or bars. The UMA CAL System is used for
a passive fit technique. For restorations the fit
directly to the implant refer to the Direct UCLA
System for the specific implant type.

The TSI (Titanium Straight Insert) Abutment
(tissue extension), like the UMA Abutment, is
an intermediate component made to fit
between the implant and the restoration. The
TSI Analog replicates the TSI for the model.
The TSI Non-Hex Plastic Cylinders fit the TSI
tissue extension. We recommend the castable
plastic cylinders as there will be no coefficient
problem or breakage around the cylinders.
The TSI hex screw uses the standard .050"
(1.25mm) hex driver. The TSI screws may be
shortened to desired height.
For restorations the fit directly to the implant
refer to the Direct UCLA System for the specific implant type.

NON-PRECIOUS BASE ALLOY.

IDEAL BAR RESTORATIONS
There are numerous options for implant bar restorations available today. To
simplify your search, we have selected the most proven and popular systems on this page. For a complete listing of all bar system components,

Most implant bar restorations involve from 2 to 5 implants. The ideal implant
bar system incorporates a bar and retentive clips in the anterior section and
locking pin attachments distally for support and stability.
The Hader-EDS Bar Master kit is the preferred choice. The CM Gold Clips
may be used as an alternative. The locking SwissLoc NG is the preferred
distal attachment to prevent lift-off and still provide resiliency. The Lew is a
viable alternative.
For Laser Welding Technique, use only titanium bars and posts.
