Job Title: Systems Administrator
Salary: $47,000 - $51,000 DOQ
Job Summary:
Under supervision of the IT Manager, installs, maintains, troubleshoots and upgrades computer hardware, software, personal computer networks and peripheral equipment; prepares documentation and provides user assistance to organizational staff; and performs related work as required.
Essential Job Functions:
• Installs, configures and upgrades operating systems and software, using standard business and administrative packages; may modify specific applications for use in operational departments.
• Installs, assembles and configures computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers, scanners and related hardware.
• Maintains and verifies tape and disk based backup systems to ensure data integrity.

Documents data backup and restore operations. (Backup Exec, Ranger Pro, SonicWall
CDP)
Maintains VMWare system and associated EMC SAN equipment as well as all servers configured.
Troubleshoots problems with computer systems, including troubleshooting hardware and software, e-mail, network and peripheral equipment problems; makes repairs and corrections where required.
• Maintains Microsoft Windows domain, Exchange email system and all related servers

• and/or devices required for network systems to function properly.
• Maintains wide area network routers and switches (Cisco).
• Maintains VOIP phone system including regular system maintenance, configuring add/change/delete requests for phone users, monitor call quality logs and maintains unified messaging system.
Maintain server, pc and printer inventory.
Plan, test, document and deploy software version upgrades for the District’s core business applications. Assists appropriate Technology and District staff members in the training
• and use of new software features.
• Serve as second level support for PC technician.
Acts as a technical resource in assisting users to resolve problems with equipment and
• data; staffs a centralized help desk or may be mobile to facilitate exchange of information and advice; implements solutions or notifies outsource providers as required.
Makes hardware and software acquisition recommendations including helping users
• assess needs and providing justification for equipment and services.
Assists in instructing staff in the use of standard business and administrative software, including word processing, spreadsheets and database management; provides instruction or written documentation where required.
• Assists with the planning, design, research and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems; maintains current knowledge of hardware, software, servers, network technology and recommends modifications as necessary.
• Performs other duties in assistance with the Technology Manager to maintain server and backend stability, also aids in support with all organization voice and data equipment and software.
• Assists with development, testing and implementation of disaster recovery and technology plans.
• Other duties maybe include handling and operation of specific power tools if needed.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Equivalent to completion of two years of college-level coursework in computer science, information technology or a related field and 3-5 years of increasing responsibilities, computer network installation, maintenance and repair experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
Certifications and/or demonstrated experience with Microsoft Server operating systems, MS SQL
Server, backup products and procedures, Cisco routers and switches, Cisco Call Manager,
VMWare server virtualization, Linux server OS, and other network related items. The preferred candidate will have a combination of professional certifications including MCSE, CCNA and/or
UCP.
