CDS load-shedding contactor
function
CDS
When consumption exceeds the selected
threshold, the load-shedding contactor
temporarily stops supply to non-essential
circuits.
description
technical data common to the CDS
c ratings:
v essential circuit: 90 A
v non-essential circuits:
- 15 A contact relay (100 000 operations) for
resistive loads without current inrush on
energisation
- in all other cases, relaying by CT contactor
is required
c frequency: 50…60 Hz
c load-shedding indication by yellow LEDs
c power consumption: 12 VA
c connection by tunnel terminals (captive
screws):
v essential circuit: 4 to 50 mm2
v non-essential circuits: 2.5 to 10 mm2
c fixing on symmetrical rail or panel
c control of currents greater than 90 A:
v utilisation of an In/5 current transformer
v threshold setting: 5 A
c utilisation temperature: -5...+55 °C
c complies with standards:
v NFC 61.750
v EN 500 81.1
v EN 500 81.2
The CDS:
c increases the number of loads without
changing output power,
c reduces output power,
c prevents nuisance tripping of the upstream
circuit-breaker.
specific technical data
CDS
c single-phase version:
v load-shedding and restoration in
cascading configuration of 2 non-essential
circuits by 2 relays with time-delayed action
v load-shedding time:
- load shedding of circuit 1 only:
• restoration after 5 min
- load shedding of circuit 1 and circuit 2:
• restoration of circuit 2: after 10 min
• restoration of circuit 1: 5 min after circuit 2
c three-phase version:
v separate load-shedding for each phase
v 1 relay per phase
v load-shedding time: 5 min for each
channel
c load-shedding override input
c 1 A - 250 V NO contact for remote
indication
