Mine Dewatering Solutions
BROUGHT TO YOU BY XYLEM
Dewatering Solutions
How do you ensure reliable, environmentally responsible
water management for your mine? Xylem provides complete
solutions backed by the expertise of Flygt and Godwin.
Xylem is the world leader in the design and manufacture of automatic self-priming
pumps, hydraulic and electric submersibles and related intelligent control systems.
We sell and rent pumps and accessories, from small electrical submersibles to high head
diesel units, available in stainless steel or hard iron.
We work with mining companies, consultants and contractors in more than 140 countries and
support every project phase, from system design to on-site equipment maintenance.
Your dewatering needs in one stop
Imagine the benefits of having ONE complete and qualified supplier of dewatering solutions.
One number to call, one coordinated approach to technology, training, orders and delivery,
maintenance and spare parts supply.
Our global presence means that wherever you are, our engineers will work with you to design
the best solution, including planning for future expansion throughout the mine’s lifecycle.
Applications
In open-pit mines, we pump seasonal rainwater and seepage (regardless of solids content),
from the pit. We lower the water table to prevent influx of ground water. Under ground, we keep
water out of working stopes, optimize main drainage, and pump out shafts.
In mineral processing applications, we supply mine water, pump process fluids for heap
leaching and solvent extraction, recover emergency dam slurry, handle nuisance fluid and slurry,
and provide pumps for water treatment.
Minimizing environmental impact
Xylem safely supports many applications directly related to environmental compliance:
•
•
•
wastewater handling
water recovery from tailings pond
transfer of mine camp wastewater
Rentals
Renting reduces the need for capital, service and maintenance expenses, equipment
transportation and storage costs. Our large rental fleet allows immediate access to pumps any
time. A preventive maintenance program ensures all equipment is in excellent condition, so spills
and late fines are avoided, work crews keep working, and production stays on target.
Broad product range and complete reliability
Xylem provides peace of mind for mine fluid handling. Products and services include pumps,
pipe and accessories, flotation collars, monitoring and control systems, aftermarket and rental
services. We are committed to delivering solutions for fast-paced emergency situations,
temporary rental and permanent installations.

Mining Pumps from Xylem
Dewatering Pumps
Slurry Pumps
Xylem’s broad range of dewatering pumps
allows a high degree of flexibility. Depending
on space and power access, boosting can be
done using Flygt electric or Godwin Heidra
hydraulic submersible pumps. Pump stations
can be designed to be portable, to follow the
mine plan and scale capacity up or down as
required.
Flygt HS 5100 and 5500 series
pumps handle abrasive slurries
containing sand, gravel, grit or
ash without damage. Impellers
and pump casing are made of
high chrome alloyed cast iron for
maximum abrasion resistance.
The optional agitator re-suspends
particles around the pump inlet.
Portable Flygt 2600 series
and Flygt BIBO 2800 series
pumps offer consistent
resistance, reliability
serviceability.

Flygt 2000 series pumps are
robust and versatile. Compact
design and assembly means
easy installation and worry-free
operation.
Godwin Dri-Prime® CD series
pumps are self-priming to 28 ft
(8.5 m), and available in
diesel, electrical or natural
gas drive versions. Flows
range to 16,500 gpm
(3,800 m3/hr), and heads
to 280 ft (85 m).
Available on skids or
trailer. The pumps have
dry-running capabilities, and an automatic
priming system with no moving parts.
The Godwin Dri-Prime HL series
is similar to the CD series, but
designed to deliver higher
heads, up to 640 ft
(195 m).
Sludge Pumps
Godwin Heidra
series hydraulic
submersible
pumps, have cast
chromium steel
impellers passing
solids up to 3 ¾ in (75 mm) and slurries.
Remotely-operated slurry gates provide
mixer functionality, and pumping of viscous,
solids-laden sludges.
The Flygt 2600 sludge series moves
sludge and other liquids without
clogging. A Hard-Iron™ (60 HRc)
vortex impeller and polyurethane lined
pump housing pass solids up to 3.25 in
(80 mm) and solids concentrations up
to 20% by weight.
Specialty Pumps
Flygt 2700 series pumps
are built in 316 steel and
designed for low pH and
other corrosive liquids.
Dewatering and sludge
versions are both available.
All Godwin Dri-Prime pumps are available in stainless steel, which offers superior
durability. The pumpend features wetted parts in 316 or CD4MCu stainless steel for
corrosion resistance in environments from pH 2 to 12. For pumping abrasive liquids,
hardened wear plates are available.
