XDI-3D
Chiaro's XDI Projector is a proprietary projector, combined with innovative software, that turns your 2D machine
vision camera into a 3D measurement system.
Collect multiple projected images and call the
included 3D processing library to convert to a
3D point cloud.

3D Point Cloud
Fast image projection, along with a
sophisticated, robust analysis algorithm, enable accurate 3D data in milliseconds. The OEM projector allows
camera manufacturers, integrators, and others to customize their own solutions.
Fast Projection speeds as fast as any camera, and fewer
patterns than other techniques allow surface profile
measurements in a fraction of a second with lower memory
requirements.
Full Frame Complete, calibrated 3D point cloud without
scanning.
Flexible Configuration The compact projector component
can be configured to operate with a wide range of cameras,
standoff distances, or packaging constraints.
Pixel Independance 3D points are generated for every pixel,
independently, allowing accurate measurement of any object
geometry including objects with shadows, edges, and gaps.
Robust processing Measurements are robust to object
reflecivity, ambient light, or large surface variations.
Automatic Error Rejection Pixel errors automatically
rejected without affecting measurement at other pixels.

For example, a representative camera with 2048 x 2048 pixels
measuring a 30 mm square at 50 cm standoff results in approximately
15 µm X–Y resolution and 30 µm depth resolution.
XDI-3D accommodates various machine vision cameras and creates a
3D pixel at each point. Processing time and X–Y resolution both scale
linearly with camera resolution. Maximum frame rate is dependent on
minimum exposure. Depth resolution depends on system geometry and
camera signal to noise ratio.
The XDI Projector can be configured to operate at a variety of
wavelengths from blue to infra-red and optimized for the measured
surface.
